"Pare down to the essence, but don't remove the poetry." ~ Leonard Koren
Greetings!
It's wabi-sabi time! For those unfamiliar with the concept of wabi-sabi, it is a mindful approach to everyday life framed in ancient Japanese aesthetics and philosophy. The busyness of the fall and winter holidays lend themselves to embracing wabi-sabi. Leonard Koren eloquently described the concept of wabi-sabi several years ago as the "beauty of things imperfect, impermanent and incomplete...a beauty of things modest and humble...a beauty of things unconventional". Simply stated, wabi-sabi is the beauty of imperfection. What a concept to embrace as we enter the holiday season where expectations of perfection abound. Mindfulness is wabi-sabi in action...bringing awareness to the present moment as it unfolds full of imperfection and impermanence, again and again....simply beautiful.
Wishing you a season of wabi-sabi,
Pam Pamela Katz Ressler, MS, RN, HNB-BC

Mindfulness Makes for Happier Employees...Even in Call Centers
| | High technology companies such as Google and Adobe have embraced mindfulness in the workplace, but what about other more traditional companies, especially those with call center employees? Canadian researchers found that when call center employees participated in a brief mindfulness program, their client satisfaction increased. Even better, the call center employees felt less stressed, had increased focus, decreased fatigue and anxiety. Certainly a win-win-win...for the company, the employees and the call center customers!
