'In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.' ~ Albert Camus
Greetings!
2015 has buried those of us in the Northeast under 70 + inches of snow, and it is only the beginning of February! For many of us spring cannot come soon enough, but we are settling in to the "what is" of the situation. While not entirely embracing the challenges of snow, we are at least seeing the absurdity of the situation. The use of humor in times of adversity can lead to more resilience. We will certainly be a resilient bunch when spring rolls around.
It is often in the most unexpected places that we find moments of mindfulness. The photo below was taken in my backyard; an ironic visual reminder to open my eyes to the "what is" looking back at me. The deep winter also allows us to savor a good book or poem. You may want to consider reading or re-reading some of poet Mary Oliver's mindful reflections. If you haven't had an opportunity to hear Mary Oliver interviewed by Krista Tippett, you are in for a treat. I have included a link here (Mary Oliver Interview, On Being)
Until next month, my best wishes for opening your eyes to noticing mindfulness in the most unexpected places,
Pam Stress Resources

A Haiku a Day Builds Mindfulness
| |
During the entire month of January I challenged myself and those who follow me on my blog and on Facebook, to join me in writing a mindful haiku each day. It turned into a wonderful exercise in noticing and it rippled out to include others who joined together in stopping and noticing something each day...sometimes humorous, sometimes poignant and but always with curiosity and gratitude.
I invite you to take a look at my blog, Pam Ressler,RN, to read 31 days of haiku (a haiku is structured with 5 syllables in the first line, 7 syllables in the second line and 5 syllables in the third line).

Mindfulness on 60 Minutes
| |
Mindfulness continues to be explored in various media -- last year it was Time Magazine and this year it is 60 minutes that has people calling me to find out how to learn about mindfulness. I am very grateful for the interest! If you didn't get a chance to view the 60 Minutes episode with Anderson Cooper, I thought it was quite well done and gave a good overview of mindfulness meditation. Here is a link to the program, Mindfulness (with Anderson Cooper)
