Greetings!
"Spring is when you feel like whistling even with a shoe filled with slush"~ Doug Larson For those of us in the Northeast (and other areas of the country too, I hear) it has seemed like a never-ending winter...days of bitter cold and snow followed by more bitter cold and snow. But now the hint that spring may be on its way...a few blades of grass have become visible under the graying snowbanks. Somehow the turning of the calendar to March leads us to shift ourselves to the possibility of renewal. The promise of spring, with later sunsets, birds songs in the morning, crocuses bravely waking up from their winter slumber to meet the sun, are all reminders of the impermanence of nature and even with a shoe full of slush there is reason to take a breath and be grateful for renewals.
Wishing you a month of renewal, Pam

Mind-FULL or Mindful? Leveraging Technology to Build Resilience
| | I was honored to be asked to present on the topic of mindfulness and technology at the kick off event for Healthy Concord on March 1. While mindfulness and technology may seem to polar opposites, I believe that with judicious use we can leverage technology to help us engage and connect with a practice of mindfulness and meditation. There are three key questions I ask when I review or recommend an app or other technology to support a meditation or mindfulness practice:
Does it support:
If the answer is yes, then the technology may be helpful versus a hindrance to your practice. I have had several requests to share my one page handout and my slides from my presentation, and they are now on available on my website. Please feel free to share and comment.

What Does Resilience Mean to You?
|
|
1. the ability of a substance or object to spring back into shape;2. the capacity to recover quickly from adversity, difficulties; toughness. This may be the dictionary definition of resilience, but what does resilience mean to you personally? Is there a quote or saying that is meaningful to you, perhaps one that has given you insight through times of challenge or change?
Thank you so much for the wonderful quotes on resilience my readers have sent in over the past two months. They are surprisingly varied and each speaks to particular qualities of resilience, which is fascinating. I am still compiling the quotes and catagorizing them into subtopics. Please continue to send in your favorite quotes by emailing them to me at pressler@stressresources.com. Feel free to send in multiple quotes. Please attribute the quote(s) to the original author, if known. For each quote selected for inclusion in the book, I will send you an autographed copy of the book when it is published in 2014.
