Greetings!
"Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans."~ John Lennon
On the eve of a new year, it seems especially timely to reflect and consider the wild ride we are on together called life. Mindfulness teaches us that it is the moments, sometimes hidden within the busyness, that give our life richness and meaning. Often we project into the future, as in "when (fill in the blank) happens, then I will be happy", and new year's resolutions can push us toward this way of future thinking by negating the present moment. Consider making 2014 a year of mindful moments, continuing to have overarching goals, but also honoring the present moment by noticing it as it unfolds; and not observing your life in the rear view mirror or as a mirage on the distant horizon. As a way of embracing this rather radical idea of mindfulness, I invite you to join me during January in a Mindful Moments Challenge (see below) -- let's work together and slow down to the speed of life in the new year.
Wishing you many, many mindful moments in 2014, Pam

2014 Mindful Moment Challenge
| |
31 Days of Mindfulness in January
During November, I challenged myself and my readers to compose a haiku a day -- and we did it! ( Click here to read about the Haiku Rally on my blog) It proved a wonderful exercise in taking time to simply notice on a daily basis. For January, I invite you to join with me in creating a month long Mindful Moment Challenge. For each day in January, capture a mindful moment in a word, poem, photograph, drawing, description, etc. Let your imagination take flight! You can post your mindful moments in the comment section of my blog, pamressler.blogspot.com Remember to look for those small, seemingly inconsequential moments that are really the essence of our life.
Ready, set, go.....Happy New Year!

What Does Resilience Mean to You?
|
|
riˈzilyəns noun:
1. the ability of a substance or object to spring back into shape;2. the capacity to recover quickly from adversity, difficulties; toughness. This may be the dictionary definition of resilience, but what does resilience mean to you personally? Is there a quote or saying that is meaningful to you, perhaps one that has given you insight through times of challenge or change?
Thank you so much for the wonderful quotes on resilience my readers have sent in over the past two months. They are surprisingly varied and each speaks to particular qualities of resilience, which is fascinating. I am still compiling the quotes and catagorizing them into subtopics. Please continue to send in your favorite quotes by emailing them to me at pressler@stressresources.com. Feel free to send in multiple quotes. Please attribute the quote(s) to the original author, if known. For each quote selected for inclusion in the book, I will send you an autographed copy of the book when it is published in 2014.
