Greetings
"Even if something is left undone, everyone must take time to sit still and watch the leaves turn."
~Elizabeth Lawrence
Do you find yourself sharpening your pencils and being compelled to buy school supplies each September, even if you and/or your children left the classroom many years ago? For me the shift from summer to autumn has always been one of eager anticipation for a new year, filled with new challenges, ideas and opportunities. However, often the desire to "do" overshadows the essential need of the human body and mind to simply "be" in this exquisite time of year. I am intrigued by the quote above from Elizabeth Lawrence; is it possible to take time to sit still and just watch the leaves turn? This autumn I am making a commitment to slow down, sit still and simply "be" as I watch the leaves explode in their magnificent finale for 2013. Will you join me? Enjoy the fall colors,
Pam

8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program Begins THIS WEEK
|
|
What are past participants saying about Stress Resources' MBSR program?
We are proud to share some comments:
"This was simply the most amazing course I have ever taken"
"Powerful and empowering...I couldn't ask for a better combination""Wow...I never thought I could meditate, but Pam made it accessible and doable for me.""I wish I had taken this course years ago!""Respond versus react...this is my take away from this program, thank you"What are you waiting for? Don't miss out on the Fall session of Stress Resources' popular Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program (MBSR) taught by Pam Ressler in Concord MA. Fall sessions begin THIS WEEK (Sept 26 and Sept 27). A few spaces are still available in the evening and the morning sessions. Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (or MBSR) has become the gold standard of evidence based stress management programs nationally and internationally. Based on training in mindfulness techniques and experiential learning, MBSR was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1979. Since that time thousands of individuals have benefited from the program. The MBSR program is 8 weeks in duration, meeting once a week for two hours. Home practice is an expectation and CDs, text and materials are included in the course fee. Additionally, health care professionals are able to earn continuing education credit by participating in the program for their own stress management needs. Class size is limited to 16 students in each session. To learn more about the program or to register, click here.

Help Me Write a Book on Resilience
|
|
re·sil·ience riˈzilyəns noun:
1. the ability of a substance or object to spring back into shape; 2. the capacity to recover quickly from adversity, difficulties; toughness.
This may be the dictionary definition of resilience, but what does resilience mean to you personally? Is there a quote or saying that is meaningful to you, perhaps one that has given you insight through times of challenge or change? I am compiling quotes on resilience for a book I am authoring. Please email me, ( pressler@stressresources.com) your favorite quotes on this topic (you may send me more than one!). I look forward to collecting as many as possible over the course of the next month or two. Please attribute the quote(s) to the original author, if known. For each quote selected for inclusion in the book, I will send you an autographed copy of the book when it is published in 2014.

Sound Meditation at Stress Resources with Kimberlee Moore
| |
What an incredible evening we spent on September 4 at Stress Resources with our guest teacher, Kimberlee Moore. Kimberlee shared with us beautiful chanting, compassion meditation and sound healing with a variety of instruments and singing bowls. All who attended were amazed at the vibrational qualities of the sound -- that we were able to experience it not only through our ears but with our bodies. If you were unable to attend our September 4 session, Kimberlee will be presenting another workshop at Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA on Wednesday, October 9. Click here for more information
