eCampus Goes to the Cloud
| eCampus, the DCCCD's learning management system for students and faculty will be moving to a new cloud-based hosting environment starting this summer. The LeCroy Center along with the district faculty council and District Service Center is already working on Blackboard/eCampus transition plans and making recommendations during the implementation phase. This first phase is scheduled to begin this summer. Cloud computing is the next chapter in the Internet's evolution to everything from computing infrastructure, running applications, to hosting business processes. Simply put, the cloud is a set of hardware, networks, storage, and services that resides on an offsite server. Here's what you can expect:
- A more stable environment
- Higher availability for usage
- Reduced downtime for needed upgrades and maintenance

Dallas TeleCollege Gets a Name Change
| Dallas Colleges Online, formerly Dallas TeleCollege, has officially changed it's name, to better represent the services to the colleges of the DCCCD. The name change was a result of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) recommendations regarding the LeCroy Center's services to the individually accredited colleges, and to provide clarity for students. Students get one-stop advising and registration support in order to take courses offered fully online from one or more of our colleges. Read more about Dallas Colleges Online services... |

State Authorizations Cross State Lines
| The LeCroy Center is working across several state lines to help the DCCCD comply with new state authorization requirements to offer online courses to out-of-state students. Institutions offering distance education courses in other states, are now required to apply to each state for approval for the course offerings. Dallas Colleges Online and the colleges of the DCCCD, as a member of the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), have signed an out-of-state distance education reciprocity agreement with other SREB states to offer online courses in 13 southern states. Additionally, Dallas is working with other states, researching their approval processes and securing approval before the July 2014 deadline.
