Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County wins the OceanFirst Charity Challenge and $20,000 grand prize

By raising $64,823 through generous supporters, Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County has won the OceanFirst Charity Challenge and the $20,000 grand prize. Over 80 nonprofit organizations participated in the Charity Challenge, a crowdfunding campaign funded by the OceanFirst Foundation. Habitat in Monmouth eclipsed the next organization by more than $5,000. All monies raised through the challenge will benefit the House that Youth Built project in Long Branch, a collaboration with Long Branch High School and participating campus chapters throughout the service area. The new home, currently under construction, will go to the Mike and Samantha Nolan (pictured above) and their two children. The family will partner with Habitat to complete sweat equity hours in the construction of the home and will receive an affordable 0% interest mortgage. Stay tuned for progress updates.

THANK YOU again to everyone that participated in the campaign and helped us achieve this milestone. It is a great testament to the amazing volunteers, donors and staff that support our mission to build homes, communities and hope.

Over 200 attend inaugural A Taste for Homes event in Red Bank!

We are proud to announce that our inaugural A Taste for Homes event was an incredible success. On May 16, over 200 attendees packed the Oyster Point Hotel in Red Bank to eat, drink and celebrate our three wonderful honorees - T&M Associates, 95.9 WRAT and Beverly Lawrence. More than two dozen restaurants provided tastings from their restaurants as local wine and spirit vendors sampled their cocktails.

More than 30 women participate in Women Build Days
For the 4th consecutive year, Habitat in Monmouth proudly participated in National Women Build Week. Women Build is aimed at empowering women and eliminating the 'intimidation factor' surrounding construction skills and home improvement. This initiative doesn't exclude men, but it's about including women and opening new windows of opportunity.

In early May, we were proud to host over thirty women on worksites throughout our service area!

Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth honored by Brookdale Community College

On May 11, Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County was awarded the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Rising Leaders Academy Champion award by Brookdale Community College. For the last several years, students from the EOF Rising Leaders program have volunteered with the organization putting in countless hours of support from the worksite to our gift wrap station at the Monmouth Mall. The award was part of the EOF Champions: EOF Rising Leaders Academy Choice Awards. It is an honor to receive this award! We wish to thank the students and Brookdale Community College for the generous support of our organization.
Ground Blessing at new House that Faith Built!

We are happy to announce we have selected a new family for our next house on Center St. in Freehold - the Rivera family! On May 21, Habitat hosted a ground blessing for the property. Major funding for the new construction will be provided by Thrivent along with local area faith congregations. This is the second collaboration of faith-based organizations in the last year. For updates and more information please visit our website!
