Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund and Habitat in Monmouth launch ReStore Voucher program

A $500,000 grant from the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund will allow Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County to repair 30 storm-damaged homes and distribute 50 vouchers to eligible families for the organization's ReStore.

"Many residents are still working to rebuild and the continued efforts of organizations like Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County is both needed and appreciated.  I applaud Habitat's long-term commitment to building safe, secure and affordable housing for New Jerseyans impacted by Hurricane Sandy," said First Lady Mary Pat Christie, chair of the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund. "The Relief Fund is proud to continue working alongside New Jersey's nonprofit community and groups like Habitat for Humanity to help find solutions for families in need of housing assistance."

The ReStore voucher program is designed to help Sandy affected homeowners replace major items including home furnishings, appliances and other household items that were lost or damaged during Hurricane Sandy.  Eligible homeowners can review criteria and download applications for the ReStore vouchers on Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County's website www.habitatmonmouth.org.  After applications are reviewed and vetted, eligible homeowners will be invited to spend up to $1,000 at the ReStore located at 45 South Street in Freehold on essential items needed for the home.

House that Youth Built and House that Faith Built campaigns continue in 2015

In October 2014, Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth launched two crowdfunding campaigns to support two families in the service area.

The House that Youth Built campaign is a youth based service project aimed at engaging schools and youth organizations to help raise funds needed for the Henn Family of Middletown, a family displaced from Hurricane Sandy since 2012. The Henn Family home will be the fifth Sandy new home construction by the organization. To help support this initiative please share with others to help spread the word. To make a donation to help the cause visit http://share.habitat.org/henhome

The House that Faith Built is an interfaith based fundraising project that engages the faith community from across the service area to raise funds needed to help the Quezada family obtain their dream of homeownership as our newest traditional homeowner. For more information on the campaign and to see ways you can support the Quezada family visit http://share.habitat.org/quezadahome
