April 2015
TURKMENISTAN HEALTH INITIATIVE

Please help us spread the word about the music contest: Turkmen Songs for Healthy

Living! Below you'll also find the newest blog posts available at Saglyk.info.

Turkmen Songs for Healthy Living! invites inspired Turkmens to compose an original song and/or music video in the Turkmen language that explores, encourages, or celebrates a healthy lifestyle. You can find detailed information on goals, eligibility, participation and judging criteria here. Contestants are invited to submit their songs on the week of April 13-20, 2015.

Music is a tremendously powerful force for delivering significant social messages and values, and Saglyk believes that the resulting songs and videos will showcase the benefits of a healthy lifestyle in moving and insightful ways. Contestants do not have to be well-known artists: this contest is more about creativity than production quality.

The winners will receive a cash award from Saglyk, with a $1000 prize for first place, $500 for second place, and $250 for third place. A panel of judges and online voting will determine the winners.

WHAT ARE PEOPLE DISCUSSING?
Take a look at how a young Turkmen artist sees March 8th, International Women's Day in a Turkmen context.

March 24th - World TB Day. The World Health Organization and the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control released a report Tuberculosis Surveillance and Monitoring in Europe last month. The report notes that Turkmenistan has one of the highest TB mortality rates in the region (25 cases per 100,000 people).

In 2013, with the goal to improve average Turkmens' understanding and awareness of this disease and expand materials available in the Turkmen language, Saglyk launched an informational campaign on TB. A number of articles and a brochure have been developed under this campaign.

This should be your decision!  What is a good age to start having sex? What to consider about before you start sexual relations? What do you have to be responsible for?
