TURKMENISTAN HEALTH INITIATIVE

Täze ýylda Size saglyk arzuw edýäris! "A Healthy New Year to You!" (in Turkmen). We hope you had a great holiday season. In 2014 Saglyk gathered a growing number of supporters - on our website, our newsletter, and in social media. Our many followers on Twitter, VKontakte, and Facebook - and their many exchanges, comments and observations - have added greatly to the value of this free online resource on public health and social issues.

Most of the content on our website appears for the first time online in the Turkmen language. Saglyk.info is the first and only source of credible information on reproductive and sexual health and many other public health topics including environmental health. Below you can read English summaries of the newest blog posts on Saglyk.

Please continue showing your support in 2015 by
sharing SAGLYK ("health") with your Turkmen friends by forwarding them the website address or this message.

WHAT ARE PEOPLE DISCUSSING?
When Saglyk dedicated its monthly forum to the role of dowry in Turkmen society we received comments from the public asking us why on earth you are getting into this? It is not a health issue! One of the readers got inspired and wrote a blog post on why we need to look at dowry through the prism of public health and how it affects the health of the bride and the whole family.
