"CALEB HAD AN ATTITUDE"
Numbers 13:25-33: After forty days of exploration they returned from their tour. 26 They made their report to Moses, Aaron, and all the people of Israel in the wilderness of Paran at Kadesh, and they showed the fruit they had brought with them. 27 This was their report: "We arrived in the land you sent us to see, and it is indeed a magnificent country-a land 'flowing with milk and honey.' Here is some fruit we have brought as proof. 28 But the people living there are powerful, and their cities are fortified and very large; and what's more, we saw Anakim giants there! 29 The Amalekites live in the south, while in the hill country there are the Hittites, Jebusites, and Amorites; down along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and in the Jordan River valley are the Canaanites." 30 But Caleb reassured the people as they stood before Moses. "Let us go up at once and possess it," he said, "for we are well able to conquer it!" 31 "Not against people as strong as they are!" the other spies said. "They would crush us!" 32 So the majority report of the spies was negative: "The land is full of warriors, the people are powerfully built, 33 and we saw some of the Anakim there, descendants of the ancient race of giants. We felt like grasshoppers before them, they were so tall!" TLB
This is a Stephen's Gate that I wrote two years ago and I was reminded of it today. There are times in life when we need to just get an attitude. Wherever you're at this week, I want to encourage you, pull yourself together, pick yourself up and get an attitude. Don't let the enemy intimidate you any longer. Be blessed by this devotion.
Have you ever felt like a grasshopper in a situation? Have you looked at what has been promised to you but feel like there are too many giants in your way to get what's promised? We've probably all been there at one time or another, maybe you're there now. It's in times like these we need to get an attitude, just like Caleb.
After exploring the land they found it was a land full of plenty and promise. They knew if they could just take the land then life would be easy in that land, however, the giants were intimidating. The majority of the spies were negative; they didn't have the confidence that they could defeat the giants. Caleb, however, had an attitude. It was a conquering attitude. "But Caleb reassured the people as they stood before Moses. Let us go up at once and possess it, he said, for we are well able to conquer it!"
When it comes to conquering and possessing it takes someone with an attitude. Someone who won't be afraid of the giants. I want to encourage you this week, get an attitude! Don't let the giants stop you from what God has promised you. You've got a land flowing with milk and honey if you can defeat the giants. Don't disqualify yourself by saying you can't do it, or you're not qualified, you're not smart enough, you don't have enough money, get an attitude! Go up and possess your land, with the Lord's help, you're well able to conquer any giant that would even think of getting in your way.
Giant fearers will never get anywhere. If you want to get somewhere you can't expect that there will never be any giants in your way. Will people be negative towards what you're doing? Will they think you're crazy? I can guarantee you some will, but that's okay because you've got a conquering attitude and you will possess what's been promised to you. Don't lose out because of fear, get an attitude and step out and take the land!
