Stephen's Gate
A weekly devotion to help build Christian character in the lives of individuals seeking God

"GOD IS ABLE"

Romans 4:20-21: Abraham never wavered in believing God's promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. 21 He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.

Hillsong - God Is Able With Lyrics
I've included a song that I've been listening to all week.  The words are simple but sometimes we need to be reminded of the simplicity of God's Word.  Don't get me wrong.  I love reading and hearing the deep revelations that lie in God's Word but there are times in life when the simple truth will speak as loud and as clear as the deep revelations.

When it comes to God's promises we probably all have times when we think we have an excuse to not believe God's promise.  Abraham had times in his life when he had good reason to not believe in God's promise but this passage in Romans tells us that Abraham never wavered in believing God's promise.  In fact, his faith grew stronger!

What I've found is that if you're truly grounded in God's Word and truly walking with God, anytime you begin to doubt God's promise there is something deep down within you that begins to rise up and battle against those thoughts.  I've seen God's hand too much in my life to doubt his promises.  When I think about what He has done the only thing I can say is God is faithful and God is able.

If God has promised it, He's able to do it.  What are you believing God for this week?  Healing, financial breakthrough, a promotion at work, a job, direction, clarity?  Any need you have in your life, there is a promise that goes with that need and just as this song says, He will never fail us.  In His name we overcome.  It has nothing to do with us and everything to do with Him.

Whatever you're believing God for, stand on those three simple words, "God Is Able".  Listen to the words of this song, make it your declaration, and be blessed.
