Stephen's Gate
A weekly devotion to help build Christian character in the lives of individuals seeking God

"GOD CAN CREATE SOMETHING FROM YOUR NOTHING"

Genesis 1:1-2: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.

I want to encourage you this week that as you read this, also read all of Genesis chapter 1. For probably almost everyone reading this, Genesis chapter 1 is very familiar. Many times we read it without really thinking about it and letting it sink in. What I want to do this week is relate Genesis chapter 1 to your life.

If you examine this chapter you find that God created everything from nothing. Verse two says the earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. There was no food, no animals, no plants, or no people on the earth. Everything He created, He had to create from nothing and all it took was for him to speak and it happened. The question I have for you and for myself is, Why do we question the God who created something from nothing? I think if every one of us are honest we can say that we have all questioned whether or not God can work a miracle in our lives.

Maybe your reading this post and you are believing God for something in your life that could only happen by Him taking action. Are there areas in your life that seem formless and empty? Does it seem like a situation that has no possibility for life to grow from it? Do you have a dream or a vision for your life that seems completely impossible but you know beyond any doubt that your dream and vision is from God? If any of this applies to you I want to encourage you that the God who created this earth and everything we have in it, from nothing, can create something from nothing in your life. This is where faith kicks in, be sure of what you hope for and certain of what you do not see.

If you're hanging onto a dream, don't let go. Every situation around you may seem formless and empty but God loves to create something from nothing. When He does, no one else can take credit. He doesn't wave a magic wand, He doesn't have to come down to earth and visit you in person, all He has to do is speak and things can begin to sprout up in your life. He can speak rivers into your desert places and light into your darkness.

Don't give up, don't give in but look to the God who can create something from your nothing and do not doubt!

Description
Stephen's Gate is a weekly devotion that purposes to encourage people to live the victorious life God has called them to. Stephen grew up in a Christian home and was raised in Church. As a young boy he was very shy and never wanted to be the center of attention, however, he always had the desire to preach and minister to others. God called him into ministry in his late twenties and he has enjoyed ...every minute of it. Stephen previously served as an Assistant Pastor in Fort Fairfield, Maine before moving to Georgia. Stephen and his wife Kristen currently operate under the covering of Pastor Dewey Moede of For God's Glory Alone Ministries and Stephen serves as a Pastor for the ministry. Stephen and Kristen both believe that, when in ministry, it is important to be accountable to someone who will act as a ministry covering. Pastor Dewey has been a great encouragement and support to Stephen and Kristen and fits this role well as their spiritual covering. Stephen and Kristen have been married for 9 years and have two beautiful girls, Abigail and Sydney
