"WHY ARE YOU LOOKING AT ME?"

Ex 14:13-16: But Moses told the people, "Don't be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. 14 The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm." 15 Then the Lord said to Moses, "Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving! 16 Pick up your staff and raise your hand over the sea. Divide the water so the Israelites can walk through the middle of the sea on dry ground."

This week I want to draw your attention to verse 15 of the passage above. I don't know about you but I will admit I've read verses 13 and 14 several times, I've posted it on Facebook and I believe even written a Stephen's Gate around those verses. What's never caught my attention until I heard someone mention it was verse 15.

In this passage Moses was trying to give a pep talk and God was saying, "I've already given you the direction and told you what to do, why are you looking at me, get moving!" Now, I'm not saying you can't cry out to God for help, I'm not saying that He won't fight for you, those things are fine. What I'm saying is there comes a time when we've been given all the direction we need to fight the fight and defeat the enemy and we're still standing around looking at God for the answer when God may be saying, "Why are you looking at me? Get moving!"

Stepping out in faith isn't always an easy thing to do. Even if you have all the answers and you know every step, the unknown can be scary. There are times to stand still and there are times to move. Standing still when it's time to move will get you run over. You may need to look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself to get moving. It may be time for you to pick up your staff and raise your hand over your sea and walk through on dry ground.

Again, don't take offense if you're standing still looking to God to fight for you. That may be exactly what you're supposed to be doing and He will fight for you. But, if you've been given all the direction to move onto your next step and you're still looking to God for Him to do something, He may be saying, "Why are you looking at Me? Get moving!"
