"YOU WILL WALK THROUGH ON DRY GROUND"
Exodus 14:13-14: But Moses told the people, "Don't be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. 14 The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm."
Exodus 14:15-17: Then the Lord said to Moses, "Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving! 16 Pick up your staff and raise your hand over the sea. Divide the water so the Israelites can walk through the middle of the sea on dry ground.
Exodus 14:21-22: Then Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the Lord opened up a path through the water with a strong east wind. The wind blew all that night, turning the seabed into dry land. 22 So the people of Israel walked through the middle of the sea on dry ground, with walls of water on each side!
Last week I talked about your walls of Jericho falling and how the Israelites were given specific instructions of what to do. Here is another example of specific instructions being given.
First of all, I believe verses 13 and 14 are key verses. Don't be afraid, stand still, watch the Lord rescue you, he will fight for you, stay calm. The Lord goes on in verse 15 to give Moses specific instructions on what to do. If you follow the journey of Moses, the Lord gave him instructions all along the way. If you follow closely you find that everything he needed was provided at the very moment he acted on the instructions he was given, even when they didn't make sense.
The Lord does the same with us. He gives us specific instructions for every season and situation of our lives. Reality is the Lord can do what he wants, when he wants, whether we follow instructions or not. He's God! However, I believe he gives us instructions for a variety of reasons but mainly because he wants to give us choice as well as he wants to see just how far we will go for him. The distance we will go will determine how far he can take us and to what extent he can use us. Again, the key isn't in what we do it's in what he does. "Stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today."
Maybe you're facing what seems like a sea in front of you and the enemy is creeping up behind you. Listen closely for the instructions, even if they don't make sense. I can't say for sure, and I know Moses had great faith because he saw so many miraculous things; however, I can picture Moses saying, "You want me to do what? You've really lost it this time, raise my staff and divide the water???" Moses still did what he was instructed to do and the people of Israel walked through on dry ground.
What's the Lord instructing you to do in this season of your life? Does it make sense? Do it anyway. He's seeing how far you will go so he knows how far he can take you. The end result to your season is verse 18. "When my glory is displayed through them, all Egypt will see my glory and know that I am the Lord!" His glory will be seen through your situation.
I'll close with the Living Bible translation of verses 13 and 14: "But Moses told the people, Don't be afraid. Just stand where you are and watch, and you will see the wonderful way the Lord will rescue you today. The Egyptians you are looking at-you will never see them again. The Lord will fight for you, and you won't need to lift a finger!"
You will walk through on dry ground!
