FALL
2012

Welcome to the first official newsletter for
the Garden State Girls  STEM Collaborative (GSGSC)

We will use this newsletter to update you all about what is happening in within the Collaborative and around the state.
This is the beginning of a very busy year:
* We've have  a Collaborative sponsored professional development STEM
track at the NJSACC Conference (info below)
* professional development opportunities led by some of our partners throughout the year
we've begun planning events for youth in the Spring of 2013
* Mini-grant opportunities will be available shortly to help encourage organizations to collaborate and better serve their kids.

This newsletter is for you as members of the Collaborative.
It can serve as a forum to promote events, and to highlight
the good work that you all do, so please let me know what is going on
so we can include your program in upcoming issues.

The Program Directory-

The Program Directory  (at no fee) lists organizations and programs that focus on motivating girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The purpose of this Directory is to help organizations and individuals network, share resources, and collaborate on STEM-related projects for girls.

The Directory contains program descriptions, resources available within each organization, Program and/or organization needs, and contact information. Submitted entries undergo review and verification prior to publication.

NJSACC is proud to be the convening agency for The Garden State Girls STEM Collaborative. We bring together organizations and individuals that are committed to informing and motivating girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, to encourage collaboration and improve inter-program communication. Our goal is to strengthen capacity, increase continuation of girl serving STEM programs and create a wider audience for gender-related STEM issues.

This year's STEM focused track will highlight curriculum and hands-on activities that are proven to engage youth. NJSACC and The Garden State Girls STEM Collaborative have selected presenters who are dynamic and who excel at "training the trainers".
