Dear Friends,
As I write this, the old Willie Nelson Song, "On the Road Again..." comes to mind - I think he may have written that song about my life as a County Supervisor.
During just this last week:
I've been to Auburn, Colfax, Meadow Vista, Foresthill, Iowa Hill, Tahoe City, Lincoln, Kings Beach, Granlibakken, Squaw Valley, North Auburn, Rocklin, Reno, Truckee, Donner Summit, Alta, Northstar, Newcastle....and, whew- "Listen man, I've been to everywhere in this here land!" (My sincere apologies to Johnny Cash and his song "I've Been Everywhere"!)
I squeezed in one Board of Supervisor's meeting, two Coffee Klatches, three Municipal Advisory Council meetings, one Veteran's Hall Board meeting, a Meddler's Meeting, and 7 various "Community Events" including judging a Chili Competition! To keep my sanity I managed to fit in two exercise classes, one long walk and some therapeutic gardening. Most important, I spent some quality time with my wonderful husband, including a day on the river fishing and an evening meal on our deck listening to music and watching the sun go down.
This coming Memorial Day will bring more travels through the district - starting in Auburn New and Old Cemeteries, then up to the Foresthill Veterans Memorial Hall, then over to Weimar and then to Tahoe City to honor the men and women who died while serving our Country, and I am honored to attend and be a part of this important day.
I love my job and I love the people I get to meet in my travels, but...if I give you the thousand mile stare next time we meet, just remember, I've probably driven a thousand miles in the last week!
See you out and about in the community and as always, if Jocelyn, Steve or I can be of help, please let us know!
All My Best - Jennifer Montgomery
