Vision Critical
Innovating Is Nothing New!
by Wayne Ulanski, President - [email protected]

At SVF we have made "creative solutions" a common aspect of our business model. The innovations that come from this are realized in the form of products that are used in a wide range of industries and applications.

We operate with what we have coined the "Innovation Triangle" and it includes our Culture, Resources and Input from our customer to define and solve specific problems.

September 2015

Each new design proposal goes through a rigorous process of discussion and dynamic exchanges of ideas that result in a refined problem/solution blueprint for future successes. Through our PRO-SPEC program, we develop "process-specific" valves, automated valves and control packages to meet specific process requirements.
After each project we have a "What did we learn?" session to continuously improve our workflow.

After more than a decade of creating custom solutions for our clients we are proud to say that we have the ability to quickly turn wishes into realities. With a vast library of products and prototypes we build upon past successes to perform more efficiently in delivering ideal solutions today.
At SVF; Innovating is nothing new!

The Quality Corner...

This...is...Quality Q & A
By Jane Lovett, Quality Manager - [email protected]

Recently, I watched "Jeopardy" and felt solid about my performance as I was running through all of the categories. Then, I realized I was watching Kids Week on my favorite show! "Who is not smarter than a 5th grader, Alex?" We all enjoy being conversant on various subjects, even if we just scratch the surface of a topic. In this article, your quality questions will be answered and hopefully will make you think about how these subjects can assist you with your processes!

Little Bit of Tid-Bits...

by Russ Chomiak, Director of Sales - [email protected]

At SVF Flow Controls, Inc. we view project planning and management as a value proposition that is rare in our market and that provides a degree of support, confidence and consultative positioning that gives our client base exactly what they need to meet their product needs, timelines and documentation.

Just when you think you're close to being done, remember...

The first 90 percent of a project schedule takes 90 percent of the time.
The last 10 percent takes the other 90 percent of the time

"When you come to that fork in the road, take it."
Lawrence Peter Berra who is commonly known as Yogi Berra stirred the world of baseball - he is a legend. His successes are well known across the globe and in 1972 he made it to the baseball hall of fame. Yogi Berra died on September 22, 2015, at the age of 90. Other than being one of the greatest baseball players of all time, Yogi is also known for his countless expressions and turns of phrase that were memorable because most of them didn't make any sense. (At the same time, every one of them had some truth to it.)
Berra-isms (colloquial expressions that lack logic) are now countless, and many of them are just attributed to Berra, even if he never actually said them.
As he so perfectly put it: "I never said most of the things I said."
Here are a few of my favorites, but one in particular stands out for me: "Make a game plan and stick to it. Unless it's not working."

* "A nickel ain't worth a dime anymore."
* "Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded."
* "It ain't over 'til it's over."
* "Ninety percent of this game is half mental."
* "You can observe a lot by watching."
* "It's deja vu all over again."
* "Always go to other people's funerals. Otherwise, they won't go to yours."
* "The future ain't what it used to be."
* "If people don't want to come out to the park, nobody's going to stop them."
* "He's learning me all his experience."
* "We made too many wrong mistakes."

Recipe of the Month - Classic Four-Layer (Turkey) Lasagna  Recipe
Submitted by Gary Ulanowski, Marketing Manager - [email protected]

Over the course of the last 5+ years we have published almost 60 different recipes -from chocolate covered strawberries to simple soups and breads. By far, the most popular recipe has been my Classic Four-Layer (Turkey) Lasagna which was originally published in our August, 2013 Newsletter. Although there are more ingredients than many of my other recipes, the ingredients themselves are very simple to gather together.
I choose to make this dish with ground turkey (instead of the standard ground beef version) because the turkey tends to be a bit leaner - less oil to drain from the pan.

Download the complete recipe now!
INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 box (9 oz) No Boil Lasagna, uncooked
  • 2 eggs lightly beaten
  • 1 Container (15 oz) ricotta cheese (or 2 cups of cottage cheese)
  • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1-1/2 lbs. ground Turkey, cooked, crumbled and drained
  • 2 jars marinara sauce (I prefer sauce with garlic already added)
  • 2 cups chopped black olives
  • 2 cups sliced and chopped mushrooms

The Head Scratcher... Cool Trivia About The Sunshine State!HeadScratcher

This month we are putting our focus on Florida - the Sunshine State, thanks to Jason Kurrle, Account Manager for TriNova, Inc., Lakeland, Florida branch who submitted the following suggestion:

Sunshine State Meaningless Trivia...
St. Petersburg is credited with having the longest run of consecutive sunny days: 768 days stretching from February 9, 1967 to March 17, 1969.

The biggest snowfall in Florida history happened on January 19th, 1977 when snow accumulated as far south as Homestead (35 miles south of Miami). Snow flurries fell on Miami Beach that day for the first and only time in recorded history.
St. Augustine is oldest continuously inhabited city in the US.

Can you name the second oldest incorporated city in Florida?
