Innovative, Practical and Functional by Wayne Ulanski, President - Wayne@SVF.net
As we were about to go to press today we were notified that SVF Flow Controls has been recognized by the Flow Control Innovation Award for our NEXUS-LP/LPX discreet valve controller. The panel of judges includes end users and other knowledgeable industry members who overwhelmingly chose the Nexus based on the feature rich design.
Not only does this product come in a robust field-proven enclosure, but the combination of a high Cv pilot valve and hazardous area [ATEX] design along with a significant reduction in field wiring time and cost makes it an ideal choice for a wide range of process applications.
This award represents another milestone for SVF Flow Controls and reinforces the value we bring to our marketplace as we continue to promote custom designs, a problem solving business model and an innovative culture that welcomes flow control challenges.
Here are a few more of the recent innovations that we have developed for our customers.

Recipe of the Month - "Fall Off the Bone" BBQ Ribs!
|
|
Easy BBQ Pork Ribs
Submitted by Gary Ulanowski, Marketing Manager - Gary@SVF.net
Smoked BBQ Ribs have plenty of down-home flavor, but they require special equipment and take a while to cook on the grill; this oven-to-grill method can be done in stages, so there's no need to baby-sit the ribs. First, coat them all over with a sweetly spiced rub, then roast them in the oven while you make a simple barbecue sauce. When you're ready to serve, throw the ribs on the grill, brush with the sauce, and let the heat turn the sauce into a sticky glaze. Pass around some potato salad, cole slaw, grilled corn and a roll of paper towels at the table.
Special equipment: You'll need a pastry brush or barbecue basting brush for this recipe.
The most important step in preparing "Fall Off the Bone" ribs is to remove the thin membrane on the bottom (bone side). There are atep-by-step instructions with pictures to show you an easy way to accomplish that!

The "Head Scratcher" - Baseball Trivia!
|
|

|
Ahhh Baseball - America's favorite pastime...
It's synonymous with hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet.
The first team to play baseball under modern rules were the New York Knickerbockers. The club was founded on September 23, 1845, as a social club for the upper middle classes of New York City, and was strictly amateur until it disbanded. The club members formulated the Knickerbocker Rules, which in large part dealt with organizational matters but which also laid out rules for playing the game. Among the rules introduced then, and which characterize modern baseball are: nine-man teams; nine-inning games and bases 90 feet apart.
It was August, 38 years ago, when something happened in a Major league Baseball game that never happened before.
Do you know what it was?
|

a. San Diego Padres played with only 1 outfielder.
|

b. Kansas City Royals played without shoes.
|

c. Los Angeles Dodgers played 27 innings.
|

d. Chicago White Sox played in shorts.
|
Each month SVF will give a free canvas tote to the first 5 FlowRATE readers that correctly answer the "Head Scratcher" question through our website. The correct answer will be in our next FlowRATE. GOOD LUCK!
Last month's answer was: c. Montana (-70 degrees in 1954)

Engineering Drawings
To better assist our customers to design their process systems, process layout and valve packages, SVF Engineering has built a large database of 3-dimensional drawings of ball valves and other products. Both 3-D and 2-D drawings of valves and automated valve packages can now be produced upon request and, depending upon the complexity of the request, can be made available in a few days. This process creates a more direct and more accurate, made-to-order facilitation of design drawings.
