Dear Parents and Friends of OLMC School,

In this final week before break, the energy in the school is tangible. The first through third graders are eagerly awaiting their Christmas performance Thursday evening; the early childhood students are learning about the long-awaited Messiah through stories of the Jesse Tree, and the first Christmas, and the 8th graders are awaiting one of their 8th grade hallmark events - the etiquette luncheon.  It's a busy, but truly wonderful time, at OLMC.

One of the ways we will make the week more festive is by offering a Christmas Hat, Sock, and Accessory Day.  The National Junior Honor Society is hosting this day.  To participate, all students, faculty, and staff are invited to bring in $1.00 to turn into the NJHS members or to their homeroom teachers.  They are invited to wear a Christmas hat, socks, or accessories, including sweaters and sweatshirts.

Thank you to all who made an ornament for Father John David's Christmas tree.  He is enjoying these in the rectory and is praying for our students and families.

All of our OLMC families will be very much in my prayers during this grace-filled and joyful season.  May the Christ-Child touch your heart, heal your relationships, and draw you close to Him - our God and Savior, come to us as a Child to adore!  Come, let us adore Him!

With prayers or your families,

Sister Dominic

Following is an announcement from the Office of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Richmond pertaining to OLMC:

Segura Initiative Program

The office of Catholic Schools will offer support to Our Lady of Mount Carmel School for the Segura Initiative Program through the presence of Mrs. Lisanette Torres. She will offer services as translator and interpreter for our Segura families. She will be at our school each week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We hope that her presence can be a bridge between faculty and Latino parents to improve communication to enhance academic achievement for the Latino students. She can be reached at this number 757-596-2754, extension 269.

Programa Iniciativa Segura
