Dear Parents and Friends of OLMC School,
Thank you for taking the time each week to read our electronic newsletter thoroughly, as well as all items coming home in the Wednesday folders. There is a lot of information during these busy weeks, as well as important reminders and any changes in schedule. I appreciate your extra attention when I know you have much other information to filter through to keep your life in order!
I believe most of you know that our band/choir concert schedule has changed. The rehearsal scheduled for December 10th has been adjusted to 2:00 pm. The program is longer than 30 minutes, and the band and choir directors have asked for the additional time. You are invited to this dress rehearsal, but please make note of the time change; the majority of our students will be attending this performance. Additionally, the evening concert performance has been moved up a day to December 11th, and it begins at 6:15 pm. Performers will need to arrive ahead of time to warm up and take their places.
Monday, December 9th is the celebration of the Immaculate Conception, Patroness of the United States of America. This is the feast which celebrates God's gift to Mary, preserving her from the stain of original sin prior to her conception in the womb of Saint Anne. It is a marvelous and singular gift of grace, and one we celebrate in anticipation of the time when we each will be completely cleansed of sin and all stain of sin, provided we persevere in God's will. It is typically a Holy Day of Obligation, and one that the children will celebrate at an all school Mass at 10:00 am. Please note that Mass is not at the usual time on Monday. All students are to come in Mass day uniform. We will also have our regular Friday Mass and children are to come in Mass day uniform.
Athletic sweatshirts are available. An order form is coming home with Middle School athletes next week. There will be an electronic copy on Edline on Monday. Order forms and payment are due on December 18th.
In the midst of all this busy-ness, let us remember that while we await the great days of Christmas: baking, parties, decorations, love of the baby Jesus, that we are still in the first week of Advent. I am so proud of our children for keeping the focus where it belongs, for having great conversations about the coming of Christ at Christmas and again at the end of time, how we should live differently because we are Christians, etc. Our children really want to make a difference in this world, and that is exactly what we are preparing them to do in so many ways. The goal of Advent is to remember that God has come to earth - has changed our lives forever - and that He will come again. If He comes today, will you and I be ready? This season of Advent gives us time to assess the state of our hearts, preparing a way for the Lord to come and change us. O come, O come Emmanuel!
With prayers for you and your families,
Sister Dominic, O.P.

Craft Fair
Our annual craft fair is almost here! This event has been hosted by OLMC School for many years and is greatly anticipated by over 100 vendors and many shoppers. It is a great day to do some shopping, enjoy some great food, and earn some volunteer hours.
Your help is greatly needed. Please consider volunteering your time in one of the following ways to support our vendors and our school.
o Provide baked goods for our bake sale table - items need be individually wrapped and ready for sale - please indicate if an item contains peanuts to avoid any allergic reactions.
o Make some Brunswick Stew - This is one of the most popular food items at the craft fair each year and a large quantity must be made. If you think you might like to help with this, please reply as soon as possible to be sure we have enough. A recipe and plastic storage containers will be provided.
o Help with set-up, during the fair, and clean-up - Friday after school (3:30 pm to 6:00 pm), during the day on Saturday (6:00 am to 9 am, 9 am to 12 pm, 12 pm to 3 pm) and clean-up Saturday afternoon (3 pm to 5 pm). You don't have to commit to the entire 3 hour shift - whatever time you can spend is greatly appreciated.
o Gift wrap donations - donate wrapping paper, gift bags, bows, tissue paper, ribbon, or tape for our gift wrapping station - items can be dropped off at the front office.
Please prayerfully consider where you might be able to help, and email Melanie Houle at mel_houle@hotmail.com. Please indicate "Craft Fair Volunteer" in the subject line.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at tmcgee1995@msn.com or 870-7160.
