From the Principal's Desk
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Friends,
Happy and Blessed Feast of the Guardian Angels. Scripture is replete with teaching and evidence of these heavenly creatures who do the will of God day and night. The Church teaches that every each human person has an assigned guardian angel to guard and protect him, not only from physical harm, but most especially from spiritual harm. Our angels protect us, guide us, pray for us, and enlighten our way. St. Cecilia the Roman Martyr had the special privilege of seeing her guardian angel all the time, and he appeared as one strong enough to defend her from all harm; one in whose presence she found security and peace. This great gift and privilege was given to Cecilia - she could see by sight. We are asked to walk by faith, to believe that our angels are with us, protecting and guiding us. We are taught this in Scripture and through Holy Mother Church, and we believe in faith, not because something like this is unreasonable and unknowable, but because the teachings which require faith are above the natural human way of knowing things. If we spend time meditating on this truth of the existence of our angels, we will learn to act on it. We will learn to call on our angels for help, to thank God for giving us so great a protector and guide, and we will be mindful that "our angels in heaven always behold the face of God." On this special day, I hope you will celebrate with your children this feast, teaching them about their angels, perhaps viewing a lovely painting of sacred art, and certainly praying to their guardian angels to defend them from all harm and lead them on the way of salvation.
With prayers for your families,
Sister Dominic
