Dear Parents, Guardians, and Friends,

It is my pleasure to announce to the school community that Mr. Chi Nguyen has been elected as Chair of the School Board for the 2013-2014 school year.  Serving this year as Vice Chair is Mr. Paul Tuzzolo, and serving as secretary is Mr. John Scott.  Also serving on the School Board this year is Michael Guida, Susanne Waltz, Deacon Anton Siochi, Peter Bender, Melanie Houle, Christina Aungst, Neil O'Connor, and Pat Gorman.  A full list of the 2013-2014 School Board members, as well as the committees on which they serve, can be found on the website under the Parent tab.  The School Board works on designated committees throughout the year, and are available to the parent community to answer questions or concerns, and to bring them to the Board meetings for discussion.
I also would like to share with you that I have been able to meet with the new owners of the property nearby the school, which had formerly been the monastery for the Poor Clares. "All Generations" is a ministry that had been renting space in that building for some time, and was able to purchase it when the opportunity arose this year.  Father John David, Tina Wandersee, and I met with Pastor Wolfe who is now managing the property.  Some questions have been circulating in the wider community as to what kind of ministry this will be, and how it may impact the parish, and specifically the school.  After meeting with Pastor Wolfe we understood that there are no planned changes as to how the building and property will be used.  Some ministries in the building had been serving food to the poor, very similar to our own parish outreach, but that is the ministry which sold the building.  "All Generations" does tremendous ministry and outreach in the community, but it is done out in the neighborhoods or at other locations such a soup kitchen or community center for children.  The building on Harpersville will serve as a headquarters, and several of the other ministries housed there will remain.  We were pleased to begin this good relationship with our new neighbors and hope to develop it so that we can serve God and His people, side by side, in ways the He calls us to do.

With prayers for your families,
Sister Dominic

nullEagle Scout Project

Thank you to former student, Mitch Theisen, who, along with many scouts, completed his project for his Eagle Scout badge.  Mitch spent a lot of time planning and preparing for this day of work during which the scouts transformed this area between the gym and the learning cottages in the back of the property.  They weeded the overgrowth, fixed the fountain, cleaned the pond area, replaced timbers, removed large bush and small tree stumps, laid stone for irrigation, and mulched the beds.  The teachers and staff have all been commenting on how lovely it now looks.  Thank you to Mitch and to our Scouts!
