Spirit Wear

September 4th, and usually the first Wednesday of the month, the students are invited to dress in OLMC Spirit Wear to show their school spirit.  Students may wear tennis shoes, jeans, (solid colored shorts during designated seasons), with the OLMC Spirit T-Shirt. For complete guidelines, see the uniform pages of the handbook

Back to School Night, Elementary

September 5 at 6:30 pm

Parents of students in grades preK(3) - 5 are invited to Back to School Night.  This informational evening provides opportunity to learn about OLMC School initiatives for the upcoming year, changes in policy and other relevant topics.  The formal presentations are held in the gym from 6:30 until 7:15 and are given by the Pastor, the Principal, and a School Board representative.  Following the formal presentations, the parents are invited into the children's classroom to hear from the teachers what the year ahead hold, how they communicate with parents, their specific approach to teaching and to discipline.  The evening is hosted by our Home and School Association.

Friday Mass and First Friday Adoration

September 6 and most First Fridays of the Month

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on First Fridays is a long-standing tradition in the Catholic Church of giving honor to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ who, in His humanity, suffered and died for our salvation.  Each class of students, led by their teachers, visits Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament at OLMC Church for 15-30 minutes during the day.  Parents are invited to spend time in the chapel throughout the day, praying for the needs of their own families and those of the school and parish.

Inservice Day - No School

September 20th

To maintain and excel in the teaching profession, OLMC School offers teachers times of professional development throughout the year, but particularly during the August inservice days before school begins, as well as one additional full day in the fall.   With our acquisition of iPads in the spring, we have invited Apple Education to provide an inservice for our teachers on the best instructional uses of the iPad in the area of Literacy and Language Arts, for all grade levels.

Campus Cleanup

September 21 from 7:30 am - 11:30 am

The school campus is in need of outdoor clean up and yard work.  We invite you to bring a few yard tools (trimmers, gardening tools) to help spruce up and beautify the grounds.  This is a great way to get service hours as a family and to contribute a much needed service to the school.  Please contact Mrs. Tucker if you would like to volunteer on this morning.  She can be reached at ctucker@olmc-school.com

Give Backs/Labels Contest for Out of Uniform Opportunity

September 23-27

Three times during the year we have contests to help collect the labels and Box Tops you and all the grandparents have been trimming all summer long.  During this week of September the contest will run between the Boys and the Girls for the enviable prize of an out of uniform day to be designated by the Principal at the close of the contest.  Send your child in with any Farm Fresh Receipts, Pepperidge Farm Labels, Box Tops, Coke Tops, Campbells Soup Labels and all other Give Back Opportunities listed on the website.  Each receipt/label/bottle cap counts as one point toward the boys or the girls barrels.  The children put them in the correct barrel in the cafeteria when they go to lunch each day during the week.  Thank you for collecting these - some of the programs give back a check at the end of the year, and others give points which correspond to a catalog of instructional materials to be selected at the end of each year.  We have enhanced our technology collection, our library selection, our science equipment, our early childhood rooms, and so much more through these programs.  Karen Domzal is the contact for this program if you have any questions or would like to help trim labels during the week of the contest.  These can be taken home and counted as service hours.

Cornerstone Dinner

September 28th at 6:30

The Cornerstone Dinner is a lovely dinner to support Catholic Education at OLMC School.  The parish and the school community come together to share a delicious meal, enjoy one another's company, be entertained by rising OLMC talent, and listen to an alumn or a speaker on Catholic Education.  This year we are pleased to bring Sister Elizabeth Anne, O.P. of the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia of Nashville, to speak to us.  Sister Elizabeth Anne is the Director for the Center of Catholic Education at Aquinas College.  In her prestigious biography she can boast the distinction of serving at OLMC School as principal in the 80's, so she may be a familiar face to some.  All are invited to this event.  You may indicate on your RSVP card with whom you wish to be seated.  Please RSVP to principal@olmc-school.com.
