Dear Parents, Guardians, and Friends,

Welcome, and welcome back, to the beginning of a great year at OLMC School. I am so pleased to share with you that we have 65 new families at our school and have grown to 384 students (30 more than this time last year) - the OLMC family continues to grow and God, in His generosity, continues to bless us as individuals and as a community. Our school exists for a very particular reason - to further the mission of Christ, building up the Kingdom of God, providing a distinctly Catholic education. Remembering this foundation in Christ, and living according to it, causes a great joy to emanate from the hallways and classrooms. The children really seem to be enjoying their first week back at school, as are the faculty and staff.

With a larger OLMC family, it becomes ever more imperative that we all work together and abide by carpool procedures and etiquette. There are procedures for entering and exiting in the morning and afternoon, procedures for where to park, where to walk, etc. All of this was presented at the New Family Orientation, and will be discussed at Back to School Nights. As always, cell phone use and texting is strictly prohibited in our parking lot during times of carpool - morning and afternoon. Please note: beginning after Labor Day, preK and K students will be dismissing at 3:00 with the rest of the school. PreK and K students without siblings dismiss before prayers and leave the parking lot before other children are dismissed. The first TWO ROWS nearest the school building are designated for preK and K students without siblings. This is a change from last year due to the increased number of cars which will need to leave the parking lot prior to the whole school dismissal. If you have preK or K students who have older siblings, you will pull into the 3rd, 4th, or 5th row out from the school building. Drivers and parents, please stay in your cars during morning and afternoon carpool. Carpool will become an art form in two to three weeks, so please just continue to do the right thing and it will come together.

I would like to announce a late, and temporary, change in teaching assignments.  Mrs. Rennix experienced some late-summer health issues that need to be treated, and which prevent her from beginning the school year with us.  She will return to OLMC when her health permits.  In the meantime, Sister Maria Joseph is very excited to be teaching the 8th grade language arts and literature classes.

There are volunteer opportunities in the kitchen at all lunch shifts PreK-2 at 11:00; 3-5 Grade at 11:25, and 6-8 grade at 12:30. For additional volunteer opportunities, please contact the Home and School president, Julie Nguyen, or the front office. In the front office is a binder in which you will want to register your volunteer hours for the school.

In your registration packets is a sheet indicating your preference about posting your contact information in our Family Directory, which is posted on Edline and password protected, making it available only to our school community. Please return these forms to the front office no later than September 5th. The Family Directory is scheduled to be posted on Monday, September 9th.

Please pray for our families, our children, and our faculty and staff as we begin this year. I look forward to seeing you at the upcoming back to school nights.

With prayers for your families,

Sister Dominic, O.P.
