From the Principal's Desk
Dear Parents, Guardians and Friends of OLMC,
Thank you for your prayerful support of an amazing Faith Day at OLMC. The students spent the day in their Faith Families, under the guidance of a catechist teacher. From students and teachers alike, I continually heard that this was the favorite day of the entire year. What a joy to really celebrate the faith as a school community! See the Facebook page for great photos and more details. OLMC Faith Day 2013
I would also like to thank all who attended, prepared for, procured for, prayed for, purchased from, and otherwise supported the auction efforts which culminated on a fabulous night last Saturday. We reached our fund-an-item goal to equip each classroom with iPad instructional capability. Thanks especially to Tammy, Julie, Juliette, and Becky who coordinated the auction from the beginning of the year. It was a great success for the school in every way!
A reminder that Grandparents Day is on May 10th, with the normal 11 o'clock dismissal. We will also have our May Crowning on this day immediately following Mass. Students are asked to bring a simple plant to decorate the Church in honor of Mary, and which will be planted on the school grounds in the afternoon.
As you may know, we recently advertised the position of development director for the school. Through a screening process with our pastor, the finance council and the school board we "hired", or are partnering with, Lewis Carney of Keel Consulting, who we believe will be able to take us in a new direction with new success in this community. He will be sending out a survey in May for all of our parents, teachers, and community members. This data will be a great help if you would kindly take a few minutes to complete the survey when it comes out.
With prayers for your families,
Sister Dominic

Dear Families, Teachers, Staff, Parishioners, and Friends of OLMC:
The entry way dazzled, the dining room sparkled, the dinner impressed, and the evening surpassed our expectations. We extend a heartfelt thank you to our OLMC School and Parish community who made "Puttin' on the Ritz!" Auction a huge success. It was only possible because of you and your support. After months of preparation, the auction culminated in a fun-filled evening with Live, Silent, and Dessert Auctions, including a delicious meal last Saturday night. Saint Michael Hall was filled with laughter, good deeds, and a strong sense of community, and we offer many thanks to all of the volunteers who contributed in so many different ways to make the evening not only successful but also memorable. We also owe many thanks to the bidders whose generosity raised funds to support the needs of our school. The evening truly was a night to remember filled with many blessings.
May God bless each of you,
Tammy & Julie

Several families have expressed an interest in donating to this year's Fund-an-Item, which is to equip each classroom with an iPad, Apple TV, and necessary connectors & apps. Even if you weren't able to attend the auction, you are welcome to donate to the Fund-an-Item. Please send in your donations in an envelope marked Fund-an-Item and include Fund-an-Item on the memo of your check. Thank you for your continued support!

A Message from the Clinic Plan Ahead for 2013-2014!
Attention Parents of PreK Students!
VA State Law requires that all children have a new physical done prior to the start of kindergarten. Physicals done for PreK are not acceptable for kindergarten. The form can be submitted to school as soon as it is completed, but must be submitted prior to the start of Kindergarten. A 2nd Varicella (chicken pox) vaccine is not required prior to starting Kindergarten, effective March 3. 2010. If your child has not already had their 2nd MMR, that will also need to be given. Please plan ahead if your child has a physical scheduled this spring. Doctor's offices tend to be very busy at the end of summer. Have your doctor complete the State of VA School Entrance Physical Form, which is available on our school website or please call the clinic, and Mrs. Gounley will send one home with your child. __________________________________________
Attention Parents
of 5th Grade Students!
Please make sure that your student has their DPT booster shot prior to the start of 6th grade in August. State law requires that all students be sent home if this record is not on file by the first day of school. The DPT booster is generally given when a child turns 11 years old. If your child has a physical scheduled spring spring or summer, please talk with your doctor regarding any immunizations they may need. Doctor's offices get very busy in August prior to the start of the school year, so please plan ahead. Forms can be turned into the clinic as soon as your child gets the booster shot. Also, please make sure you keep a copy for your own records.
State required immunizations are generally available free at your local health department. For more information, please call the Peninsula Health Department at 757-594-7410, the Hampton Health Department at 757-727-1140 or the Suffolk Health Department at 757-686-4900. __________________________________________
For more information, please visit our website and click on the Parent Life tab. If you have any questions, please call the school clinic at 757-596-2754, ext. 215.
