From the Principal's Desk
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Friends of OLMC School,
Blessed Advent to you and your families. Even while we are advertising our Christmas performances of the band/choir, and the fourth and fifth grades, the students, faculty, staff and I are trying to keep our minds focused on the true spirit of Advent. During this short season of preparation, the Church invites us to adjust our lenses so that we have better distance vision. Advent is a time to cultivate that virtue of hope and to bring into sharp focus the coming of God into our world at Christmas, and again at the end of time. These are not events that necessarily press on us in daily life, and so they often do not get the attention and meditation they require for us to be truly transformed into the image of Christ. Advent is a time to remove obstacles, to "fill in the valleys (of selfishness) and bring down the mountains (of pride)" so there is room for Christ. I pray you will take the time to prepare for Christmas so that its celebration is fuller and richer than in years past.
With prayers for your families,
Sister Dominic

IMPORTANT NOTE:
It is necessary to give reminders about procedures for morning and afternoon carpool. Please review the bullets below and ensure that you, and anyone who drops off or picks up your children, know and follow these procedures. When there are over 200 cars entering and exiting the lot within a 15 minute period, we must follow procedures that serve the common good, and cannot do merely what is most convenient for our own families.
Morning Carpool:
- Absolutely no cell phone use is permitted during carpool time or when cars and children are moving in the parking lot.
- Two lines snake through the parking lot until the final stretch where a single line forms for drop off directly on the curb.
- Students are ONLY to be dropped at the curb. Do not pull into the bus area for unloading.
Afternoon Carpool
- Absolutely no cell phone use is permitted during carpool time when children and/or cars are moving in the lot.
- The entire lot is used for carpool lines. Do not park in the lot between 2:45 and 3:20. If you have an appointment or a club after school, either park along Harpersville Road or at St. Michael's Hall.
- Stay with your car during carpool and do not gather on the front sidewalk area, particularly at the front door. We have over 400 people coming out of the building which is a great responsibility for supervision put on our teachers.
- Thank you for your attention to these reminders and for your compliance. If you have concerns about these procedures, please make an appointment with Sister Dominic.

OLMC's Ms. Bender - State Championship Coach!
Ms. Bender is more than just a fantastic first grade teacher, she is also the head coach for Peninsula Catholic's Cross Country team. Recently, Ms. Bender led her team to win the State Championship Title for the second year in a row! Ms. Bender credits her driven runners, outstanding Assistant Coach (OLMC's Kathy McKenna) and her Team Captains for helping the team to feel like family and for working to support and motivate each other all season long.

Have any of your phone numbers changed since school started?
- If you listed a home phone on your emergency card, but no longer have one - please let us know.
- If you have changed your work or cell number, please send us your new number. (Your children frequently know that you changed your cell phone number or changed jobs, but do not know your new number.)
- If you want to indicate which numbers on your emergency card should be called 1st, 2nd, etc - just send us that information and we will update your card.
- If you were new to the area and did not have friends to use as emergency contacts or just chose not to send in numbers - please consider sending in names and phone numbers at this time. Despite the fact that you carry a cell phone, we are not always able to reach you. These numbers do not get used routinely. We generally do not use them unless we have an emergency and are unable to reach you.In a real emergency these numbers can be very valuable. They are frequently able to help us to locate you. We currently have many children with no emergency numbers other than their parents.
Also, if you have Voice Mail - Please make sure that it is not full. We frequently try to contact parents and are unable to leave a message, because your message box is full.
Please send a note to the Main office with any changes. We will update both our computer system and emergency cards. Having accurate phone numbers saves our faculty and staff a great deal of time when they are trying to reach you.
Thank you!
