One thing that makes Bonner & Prendie special, and something that I have experienced in my time here - is the sense of community, of brotherhood and sisterhood, that the school inspires. We see this all the time when students come together for a cause that is affecting one of their classmates, when alumni rally around an initiative, or when a teacher or coach goes above and beyond for the betterment of the school.

This weekend, with 6 different student and alumni events, was a perfect example of how this sense of community manifests itself in support of the mission of Bonner & Prendie and our students.

Saturday morning I joined with over 200 golfers and attendees of the Brendan Seward Memorial Golf Outing, This outing, and the reception and auction afterwards, supports scholarships for 4 of our students each year.  Through the hard work of Kate Seward and her family, it is supported by Bonner & Prendie alumni ranging over 4 decades.

We then had the honor of joining the Prendie Class of 1966 as they celebrated their 50th reunion at Springfield Country Club. It was an energetic, spirited, and impressive event with approximately 30% of the graduating class in attendance - check out the video here of the class singing The Alma Mater. These "Prendie Girls" truly represent the sisterhood of Archbishop Prendergast, and prove that it is something that stays with you for the rest of your life. Bonner & Prendie is rooted in the traditions of both Archbishop Prendergast and Monsignor Bonner, and we are a stronger school because of that.

We moved from a special event for the Graduates of 1966 to a special event for the Class of 2017, our 2nd ever home football game on campus. I hope that many of you were able to follow our home games this month, as they were historic occasions for the school. A big win over Bishop McDevitt on 10/1 and a hard fought loss to West Catholic on 10/15 were the first ever games that we had played here on campus. We had around 1,200 alumni, family, students, and friends here on the 15th to enjoy the game - please see the photos and more about these games in the newsletter below.

We were then able to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Billy Lake Basketball Tournament, that supports both research for ALS, and a scholarship for Bonner & Prendie students. This annual event is in honor of Billy Lake '67 (soon to be inducted as a  Bonner Hall of Fame member, details below), and supported by many of his former classmates and teammates. The Billy Lake Memorial Scholarship has been providing support for B&P students for many years, and we were happy to have our basketball team be able to participate in the daylong tournament. Check out the article on the event here - Billy Lake Tournament Article

Later on Saturday night, the Bonner & Prendie Classes of 1971 celebrated their 45th reunion at Springfield Country Club, and from what we have heard, were joined by many of the Prendie Class of 1966 grads who still had not left their party!

Last but certainly not least, we celebrated the Father/Daughter Mass and Brunch this past Sunday - an unbelievable event that allows for the girls to share with their fathers some special time and include them in what it means to be a member of Bonner & Prendie.

As you can see - there are so many people that are a part of Bonner & Prendie's legacy and success; so many that still work for our students, to provide the opportunity of a faith based education rooted in morals, service, and community. I can't say thank you enough to so many of you who are a part of our great community!

Thank you and God Bless,

History is Made
First ever Varsity Football Games held on campus!

On October 1st, the Bonner & Prendie Friars took on Bishop McDevitt in the 1st ever home varsity football game held on our campus!  Despite the poor weather, it was an awesome environment, and many students, alumni, and friends came out in support of this historic occasion as the Friars got a big Catholic League win 33-12.

October 15th saw much better weather, and a much bigger crowd as B&P took on traditional rival West Catholic in a hard fought game, ultimately falling 20-12 on Senior night.
