The Archdiocese of Philadelphia and Faith in the Future Foundation Extend Their Management Agreement
The extension of the formal relationship between the Archdiocese and the Foundation occurs a full 18 months before the expiration of the initial agreement, affirming the continued growth and innovation in Catholic schools being prompted by the work of the Foundation. As in 2012, the agreement was signed by Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. and H. Edward Hanway, Chairman of Faith in the Future Foundation.

The season of Spring is upon us - the season that parallels with the ideas of rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection, and regrowth. Although we are still a few weeks away from the actual beginning of the season, I see many examples of these "ideas" as I continue my day-to-day work here at Bonner & Prendie.
For one, we have entered into the Holy season of Lent. Lent provides a time to reflect, to pray, and to take action as we prepare for the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Again, I am reminded personally of Pope Francis's message of mercy and forgiveness as we continue through this Jubilee Year of Mercy. Our community continues to support this through their work in the community and by taking time to reflect on their own personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Currently in our main hallway are two symbols of this: we have over 1,000 cans of soup that were collected by our CSC and will soon be donated to a local food bank. There is also a Cross signifying the sacrifices Jesus Christ made for us, students have the opportunity to post their own individual intentions on the Cross asking our community to pray for them.
This past week we also celebrated the "rebirth" of our school. Four years ago this week (February 24 to be exact) we celebrated the announcement that Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School would be staying open. Although I was not part of the community back in 2012, I remember the announcement and recognize how important that day is in our school's history. Our community continues to celebrate the announcement annually by hosting a birthday party for the entire school on that date. I can say with confidence that Bonner and Prendie has and will continue to rejuvenate itself in being a unique Catholic institution in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. With our commitment to preserving experiences of single-gendered classes at co-educational school and the growth of our realCollege program (by adding a 6th university), along with many other initiatives and programs; our school continues to be a destination for area families who seek an affordable Catholic secondary education.
Also this past month we had our first meeting and an orientation for our new Board of Directors. Seventeen alumni and friends of the Bonner & Prendie community have been named to the new Board and they will help me as President develop a strategic plan for the future of our school. With the help of the Faith in the Future Foundation and the Office of Catholic Education, the Board will assist the administration in creating goals and obtaining resources to support the strategic initiatives. We have a wealth of experience from a variety of backgrounds on the Board. I look forward to sharing with you more about the Board and its members in the coming months, but in this issue you will have the opportunity to learn a little about one of our Board members and a great alumni supporter of our school, Mr. Jim Delaney (Class of 1969).
In closing, I must mention that we continue to celebrate many members of our community each and every day when we see or hear news about great accomplishments in addition to what we share with you in these monthly newsletters. Through our social media outlets, specifically on Twitter and Facebook, we continually update and share stories of our community's successes. Whether it is one of our athletic teams winning a contest or participating in a post season exhibition or an individual student's or alumni's individual accomplishment; we want to celebrate the news! Please join our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter to engage with our stories. With that, congratulations to three of our current faculty/staff members, each who had personal accomplishments and recognition this past month. Mrs. Eileen DeStefano (Class of 1962) and Mr. Tom Stewart (Class of 1964) have both been named to their respective Hall of Fame Classes for 2016. Mrs. DeStefano will be recognized at the Prendie Hall of Fame Ceremony on May 21, 2016 and Tom will be recognized at the Bonner Hall of Fame Ceremony on October 22, 2016. Also congratulations to Mrs. Wendie Flanagan, Chemistry teacher, bowling coach, and student organization adviser, who was recently on the game show Wheel of Fortune. Although she did not win the grand prize, she did not come home empty handed and will always be a winner here at our school!
Finally, I hope you will continue to support your school in the many opportunities provided. On March 5, we will host our Annual Friar Fest (details enclosed, register today!) and our Annual Appeal continues to progress. Consider supporting in one way or another. As always, it is because of your consideration, dedication, and commitment that our community continues to renew itself while carrying out the traditions you recall from your days at your Alma Mater.
I am grateful for your continued support!
Amen and God Bless,

John Cooke
President
Bonner & Prendie Catholic High School

Support the 2015-2016 Annual Appeal!
If you have not already done so, make your gift to the 2015-2016 Annual Appeal
Each year, through the support of our alumni and friends, the Annual Appeal allows Bonner & Prendie to offer scholarships and tuition assistance, increase our student and academic programs, and improve our campus environment.
Join with hundreds of others as we try and grow the annual appeal for the 4th straight year. Checks can also be sent in, made payable to "MBAP" and mailed to
Bonner & Prendie
403 N Lansdowne Ave
Drexel Hill, PA 19026
This week also marks the 4 year anniversary of Bonner & Prendie winning their appeal to stay open, 2/24/12 is a date that many B&P students, teachers, alumni, and friends remember well. Since that day we have seen almost 1,000 students graduate, millions in college scholarships earned, partnerships with colleges formed, innovative academic programs implemented, and major renovations to our campus - all while staying rooted in a sense of tradition and providing a quality Catholic Education. The Annual Appeal, and support from alumni is the driving force behind all of this, we hope you will continue to be a part of our students lives for the next 4 years and beyond!
Please take a look at the video below of our kids learning that their school would remain open in 2012.

Bonner & Prendie partners with Immaculata University, grows realCollege™ Program
.
Bonner & Prendie is proud to announce Immaculata as a partner in our realCollege™ Program. IU will begin teaching a sign language course to our students starting in the Fall of 2016. This marks the 6th local college to join B&P in this one of a kind program that allows our students to earn real college credits at a fraction of the cost. Immaculata joins with Rosemont, Cabrini, Neumann, Chestnut Hill, and Harcum as partners of Bonner & Prendie.
The Bonner and Prendie realCollege™ program provides a unique opportunity for Bonner and Prendie students. realCollege™ provides our students with the opportunity to acquire real college credits, not just potential AP credits, right on the Bonner and Prendie campus; so that our students can graduate with real college courses already completed and their parents can potentially realize many thousands of dollars in college cost savings. Our students have a variety of courses to select from, from our six college partnerships, each semester.
