Second Annual Benefactor's Mass and Brunch a Success!
For the second year in a row in late April, Bonner & Prendie Supporters, Scholarships winners, and other members of the community gathered for Mass in the Prendie Chapel, and brunch in the Bonner Cafeteria. This event brings students who receive scholarships and financial assistance together with many of the people who provide those opportunities. After Mass, a short program focuses on the student experience here at B&P, and how donors and alumni support allows many of our families and students to thrive at the School. We were excited to see the event grow from 100 attendees in 2014, to 190 in 2015.

"Hi, Father, I am wondering if I could get your perspective on the topic of my theology project," said one of our sophomore girls.
"Sure," I said, "what is your topic and when is the paper due?" "It's on 'Anger as a Deadly Sin' and it's due tomorrow."
Ah, crunch time! It's that time of year when all the chickens come home to roost and the pressure is on. Papers are due, exams are looming, final decisions are being made for college, and our athletic teams are down to their final games in the playoffs. It's crunch time!
Of course, it's also crunch time for everyone else at Bonner & Prendie as well. Our school minister is working with the seniors in planning their Baccalaureate Masses. We still have separate Masses for the boys and the girls so that each can celebrate not only a thoroughly Catholic Mass but also according to the customs of Archbishop Prendergast High School and Msgr. Bonner High School. Our assistant principals are working on getting together the awards and medals for graduation which we will celebrate with everyone altogether at Villanova. This ceremony is a combination of the legacies of the graduations of both Prendie and Bonner. Three years ago the kids worked with us very hard in creating a ceremony that combines both the old and the new and reflects what we have become at Bonner & Prendie. I am almost as proud of our ceremonies as I am of the kids who take part in them!
At the graduation ceremony, we will honor two of our seniors - one boy and one girl - along with two graduates of our school with the St. Augustine and St. Katharine Drexel medals. I am proud to announce that Anne Marie (Nancy) Seiverd '63 will accept the St. Katharine Drexel Medal and Jim Hamlet '76 will receive the St. Augustine Medal this year. They are two worthy recipients and I join the Bonner & Prendie class of 2015 in congratulating them.
It's also crunch time in our advancement office as we are wrapping up another year. We have only a few weeks left for our Annual Appeal and we are extremely close to our goal of $375,000. You should know that this level of support is more than double what we were receiving prior to the announcement that our school was to close three years ago. This is clear evidence that the extraordinary efforts of the Bonner and Prendie alumnae and alumni to save the school during the appeal was not just a one-shot deal but rather a pledge that you were willing to stand by your alma mater well into the future. It is been this ongoing support that has guaranteed Bonner and Prendie's long-term sustainability. If you haven't yet made your contribution to the Annual Appeal, or if you are in a position to help us reach and exceed our goal, please consider doing so in the next week or two so that we can finish the year strong.
I want you to know that I will remember all of our alumni, alumnae, and friends during our Baccalaureate Masses on June 3rd and June 4th. You are a vital member of our community and share in everything we do here at Bonner & Prendie.
I am so thankful for the love and support that you show us because you make everything we do for these young people possible. On behalf of our graduating seniors and all of our great kids, thank you!
God bless you!
Rev. James P. Olson, President

Bonner & Prendie Students take Reading on the Road for the 15th straight year!
Juniors and seniors from Mrs. Kane's and Mr. Sweeney's English classes continued the tradition of visiting elementary schools throughout the area; some of whom attended the school they visited.
This year, seventy students visited six schools: St. Andrew,
St. Bernadette's, St. Cyril, St. Dot's, St. Eugene's and
St. Laurence and worked with students in
K through 2nd grade.
The reading visit is anticipated by the students, welcomed by the principals, teachers and children, and enjoyed by all involved. B&P students receive high praise for the way they come prepared to "teach" the children by reading favorite books, creating fun activities, and spending precious time with the children. Our students rave about the experience saying how glad they are to have been part of it. And, the little kids, well...they invariably say, "Can you come every day?"
Special thanks to: Sister Anne, Mr. Clement, Mrs. Dwyer, Mrs. Farren, Mrs. Hayden, Mrs. Kane, Mr. Meyer, Mr. Sweeney, Mr. Wieners, to the administration, faculty and staff at Bonner & Prendie, and to the faculties and staffs at the elementary schools who welcome us back year after year.
