Please keep June Kearney, mother-in-law, of Mrs. Kearney in your prayers.

Dear BSS Families,
At our auction we honored Sis and Frank Steffen with the Legacy Award. This award recognizes families who have left an imprint on the fabric of Blessed Sacrament School through their long standing commitment to Catholic Education and to BSS students. For almost thirty-six years there was a least one Steffen Family member enrolled at our school. Sadly to say, Frank Steffen passed away on last Friday. Please keep the family in your prayers during this difficult time. Mrs. Gomez Groovy Book Fair Raffle Next Monday, is our annual Book Fair. In order to raise funds to buy books for our school library a raffle will be held. For a dollar, students may have a chance to win a Red Robin Dinner Card, two movie tickets or a Dunkin Donuts Gift Card. Tickets will go on sale this Thursday, 2/18. Help us stock the library!

Shamrock Tournament Details
On Friday, 2/19, the Boys and Girls will play back to back at the same gym - hooray!
The Boys start at 5:30 and the girls at 6:10 at Sedgefield Middle School - 2700 Dorchester Place, Charlotte.
The brackets can be found along with more information on the website.
**NOTE** Shamrock is a time to support all the BSS athletes who participate. All players are expected to be at all games (boys and girls) that they can possibly attend and at the Cheer Expo.
Friday, 2/19 · Athletes traveling to Shamrock and their siblings have an 11:30 dismissal. (If you cannot leave at 11:30 please ask a teammate's family if your athlete can travel with them.) · Students must travel to Charlotte in their school uniform. · Parents are encouraged to meet at BSS to paint their cars and leave as group. · Lunch is on your own, wherever you choose, on the way to Charlotte. · After lunch please head to the hotel to check in and get settled. · While we are in Charlotte, we stay together as much as possible when traveling to the games and the Cheer Expo. We usually choose a time to meet in the lobby to make sure we are all there and all the athletes have a ride. · Friday night is dinner on your own and an early bedtime as we will definitely have games on Saturday. The times for those games will be determined by the results of the games on Friday.
Saturday, 2/20 · Basketball games - Times TBD · Cheer Expo 4:30 at Charlotte Catholic High School - 7702 Pineville Matthews Road, Charlotte · There is Mass at Charlotte Catholic following the Cheer Expo. · We have the conference room at the hotel reserved for Saturday night. This will be our "home base". After the Cheer Expo we will gather in there, get pizza for the kids for dinner and have an informal awards ceremony. We will also enjoy all the leftover concessions from the season. We have to be out of the conference room by 10:00 pm this year. This is also a time for the kids to decide what they want to do that night. There is a dance from 7:30-10:00 at Holy Trinity Middle School. The dance is open to 7th and 8th graders only and we must have at least one BSS parent chaperone in attendance. The cost is $5.00 for the students. There is a movie theater in walking distance from the hotel. Some students may choose to see a movie on Saturday night. · Parents are ultimately in charge of bedtime on Saturday night, but please be aware and respectful of the other guests in the hotel.
Sunday, 2/21 · Possible Basketball games - determined by the outcome of Saturday's games - Times TBD · Hotel check-out and travel home
The address of the hotel is - Hampton Inn Southpark 6700 Phillips Place Court Charlotte, NC 28210 (704) 319-5700
One last note - We have a very good relationship with the Hampton Inn. They are very helpful and accommodating to us. Please take some time to discuss proper behavior in the hotel with your children and with any children you are responsible for. Children need to be supervised at all times. Mrs. Gomez will go over all the rules with the students at school next week.
We are happy to answer any questions you may have. Looking forward to a GREAT weekend! Aileen and Kelley
