Dear Families,
We had a wonderful celebration of Grandparents/Special Friends last week. It was great to see so many grandparents/friends joining us for our prayer service and touring your grandchild's school. Thank you for sharing your day with us!
Mrs. Gomez
Iowa Test
In your child's folder (3rd-8th), you will find a letter (printed on orange paper) detailing information on how to prepare your child for next week's Iowa Testing. My best advice is to get a good night's rest, eat a healthy breakfast for brain power, and to do tell them to do their very best.
Save the Date and Buy SCRIP
Mark your calendar! BSS will be at Barnes and Noble on Wednesday, November 11, 2014. We will be selling Barnes and Noble scrip cards in the school office!

STREAM in Action Speaker Series
Middle School students enjoyed guest speaker Ocularist Emma Nadolski during last week's STREAM in Action class. Mrs. Nadolski's presentation on Ocular Prosthesis was quite well received! Students learned about Carolina Eye Prosthetics and were fascinated by the hand painted prosthetic eyes.
Community Service Elective
Students visited the local Red Cross last week and learned more about what this organization provides for our local community.
Fourth Grade Attend Farm to Table at Cedarock Park!
This annual event is offered by the Chamber's Agri-Business Committee to give area fourth graders the chance to learn about agriculture in our community. The program, provided at no charge, educates students about where their food comes from and what is involved in food production before it reaches the dining room table. Several different areas of farming are represented - dairy, poultry, farm technology, beekeeping, forestry products, beef cattle, field crops, soil and water conservation, and plant science. Each year approximately 800 students attend the event, which is held at the Historic Farm at Cedarock Park.
School Buddies
One of the many wonderful things about BSS is the connection between all of our students from the oldest to the youngest! A few pictures from some recent playground fun!
