WACO LEARNING CENTER

HIRING EVENT
On August 12th, the Waco Learning Center will host a job fair for C3 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. They will be searching for Customer Service Representatives. Please contact the Learning Center to pre-register for this event. Spots are limited.

CAREERS IN RETAIL JOB FAIR
Interested in working in the retail, food service, or hospitality industries? The Waco Learning Center will host a job fair with employers from these industries on August 19th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Pre-registration is required. JOB FAIR PREPARATION CLASS
Need to update your resume or work on your interview skills before attending the Waco Learning Center's Job Fairs? Contact the Learning Center to sign up for a
 Resume and Interview Workshop. Two workshops will be offered in August:


Tuesday, August 9th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Thursday, August 11th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm


INTRO TO EXCEL-Saturday Class
Having trouble making it to one of Goodwill's weekday computer classes? Join us for a FREE Intro to Excel class on Saturday August 20th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. This is a beginner class for those interested in learning about the Excel environment and its basic functions. It's a great start for those that want some preparation before registering for our month-long MCC Continuing Education Excel 2010 course which takes place in September! 


FORKLIFT CLASS
Learn how to correctly operate a forklift according to OSHA safety regulations on Saturday August 27th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Topics include forklift physics, lift truck safety, maintenance, and refueling/recharging. Additional hands-on forklift operation training provided. Please contact the Learning Center to register. Cost is $80 per student, $65 for Veterans.

TEMPLE LEARNING CENTER

CPR CERTIFICATION CLASS
The class will be $40, payable via cash or money order only. Participants must bring payment and valid photo ID to attend. This course will provide certification through the American Heart Association for the following: Infant CPR, Child CPR, Adult CPR, First Aid, AED, and Choking. Registration REQUIRED - please contact the Temple Learning Center to register.

FINANCIAL EDUCATION CLASSES
BBVA Compass and Goodwill have partnered to offer financial education courses each month in the Temple Learning Center. If you are interested in learning more about Checking Accounts, join us for "Check It Out", taught by staff from BBVA Compass on Wednesday, August 17th at 1:00 pm. 




PARENTING, MOOD, AND STRESS MANAGEMENT CLASSES
The Temple Goodwill Learning Center has partnered with Aware Central Texas to provide Parenting, Mood, and Stress Management classes each week. 
  • Learn to identify the five factors (STORC) that make up human emotion.
  • Learn how to use of cognitive behavioral techniques to manage moods and negative feelings.
  • Learn to replace destructive and avoidant ways of responding to negative moods (such as drinking) with positive responses.
  • Learn parenting skills

RESUME WRITING AND INTERVIEW/SELF-PRESENTATION CLASS
Do you need help creating a resume that tells prospective employers exactly what you want them to know about yourself and why you would be a good fit for their open positions? Do you want to learn the proper way to present yourself in an interview and tips that will help you land the job you want?  Join us at the Temple Learning Center for our Resume Writing and Interviewing/Self-Presentation Class on Friday, August 5th and 19th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Staff at the Temple Learning Center are trained to assist individuals navigate the Your Texas Benefits website. If you need help applying or reapplying for Medicaid, SNAP, TANF, or CHIP, Goodwill can help!

BRING EVERYONE IN THE ZONE-SUPPORT GROUP
Join a group that provides Peer Support in a myriad of ways to Service Members, Veterans their Families and Caregivers (SMVFC), especially those suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury, Military Sexual Trauma and other traumatic events in their lives.  This group helps improve the quality of life for the SMVP.


When: Mondays from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm




COMPUTER SKILLS 2.0
Want to upgrade your computer skills and set yourself apart from your peers (job-seekers, etc)? Ever wonder what "the cloud" is and why it's such a big deal? Are you scared, confused, or just don't know where to start? Join us for a guided tour of Google Apps, Trello, Social Media Apps, and other collaborative web applications. Get your questions answered and don't be left in the dark again! This class takes place each Wednesday from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm.

Operation: GoodJobs assists all veterans, transitioning military (Active Duty, National Guard, and Reserves), and their families with job training and placement services with individualized, holistic service plans to help each participant succeed. The plan services the needs of the whole family with the goal of achieving job placement, retention, and long-term financial stability.

This initiative focuses on helping participants gain the leadership development skills necessary to advance in their position and provide employers qualified individuals to fill mid-level jobs within the retail, restaurant, and hospitality industries. BELL COUNTY SCHOOL OF DEFENSIVE DRIVING
(All courses: state approved certificate issued at end of class)
