Mousing Around Mondays
Brand new to computers? Not ready to sing up for a class just yet? Mousing Around is a tutorial to help you become comfortable using the primary components of a computer before singing up to take one of our computer classes. A lab attendant will be available form 9:00 am - 3:00 pm every Monday to help guide you. Check the Waco calendar for June Mousing Around dates. Come by and we will get you started!


Job Search & Resume Assistance
Need some guidance as you job search and/or prepare or update your resume? A lab attendant will be available everyday Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm to assist you in getting your resume ready to submit for job applications. Check the calendar for June lab assistance days.


Free Employability Skills Workshops
Starting January 2016, the Learning Center will offer weekly 1 our employability skills classes. Completion of 1 employability class is required to schedule an individual job search, resume, or interviewing appointment with Learning Center staff. The following classes will be offered:

McLennan Community College Continuing Education Computer Classes
The Learning Center will offer Excel 2010 and Basic Workplace Computer Skills during the month of June.

Free Computer Basics Classes
We can help you improve your computer skills regardless of your current skill level. There are classes for everyone. The following basic classes will be offered in June:

  • Computer Basics
  • Internet and Email
  • Introduction to Microsoft Word
  • Introduction to Microsoft Excel

Resume Writing Class
Do you need to create a resume that tells prospective employers exactly what you want them to know about you and why you would be a good fit for their open positions?
Join us at the Goodwill Learning Center for our resume writing class to learn the appropriate content to put in a resume and the way in which it should be formatted to catch the eye of an employer.


When: Fridays, June 3rd and June 17th
Time: 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
Note: Only 10 slots available for this class, pre-registration required.




CPR Certification Class 
The class will be $40, payable via cash or money order only. Participants must bring payment and valid photo ID to attend. This course will provide certification through the American Heart Association for the following: Infant CPR, Child CPR, Adult CPR, First Aid, AED, and Choking. Registration REQUIRED - please contact the Temple Learning Center to register.

GED Classes

The Temple Learning Center is excited to announce that GED classes will officially begin this year! We've partnered with Temple College to host GED classes weekly, at the Temple Learning Center. Financial Education Classes
Are you planning on becoming more financially responsible in 2016? BBVA Compass bank is providing a free financial class every month to help you do that. This class is free & available to anybody in the community interested in working on their finances.


Topic: "Financial Recovery"
When: Wednesday, June 15th at 1:00 pm 




Parenting, Mood, and Stress Management Classes
The Temple Goodwill Learning Center has partnered with Aware Central Texas to provide Parenting, Mood, and Stress Management classes each week. 
  • Learn to identify the five factors (STORC) that make up human emotion.
  • Learn how to use of cognitive behavioral techniques to manage moods and negative feelings.
  • Learn to replace destructive and avoidant ways of responding to negative moods (such as drinking) with positive responses.
  • Learn parenting skills

Interested in learning the basics of utilizing a computer? Need help navigating through the internet? Curious about accessing and using email to communicate with employers, family, and friends? If you answered "YES" to the previous questions, swing by the Belton Learning Center to take advantage of our FREE Computer Basics, Internet and Email, or Introductory Microsoft Office classes.

Bring Everyone in the Zone
Join a group that provides Peer Support in a myriad of ways to Service Members, Veterans their Families and Caregivers (SMVFC), especially those suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury, Military Sexual Trauma and other traumatic events in their lives.  This group helps prove the quality of life for the SMVP.


When: Mondays, June 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th

Bell County School of Defensive Driving:
(All courses: state approved certificate issued at end of class)

Lone Star Legal Aid 
Do you have questions about civil law issues that needs answers?
Do you need help preparing a will, power of attorney or medical directives?
Do you need help applying for benefits, such as foods stamps? 
Lone Star Legal Aid will be on site to provide cost free assistance to participants.

Forklift training class at Goodwill
Learn to drive adn operate a Forklift. Certificate of Completion received when class is finished.

Note: Limit 12 persons per class
Cost: $65.00 per person for Forklift training (includes class material and hands-on instruction)
          $20.00 Operations hands on training

Customer Service Essentials-Training Opportunity



Take part in Goodwill's three-part Customer Service Essentials course, designed to give you with the skills necessary to provide exceptional service to people in the public. This course will also prepare you to take the Customer Service Certification exam offered by the National Retail Federation. Cost for exam is $55 (this fee is waved if you are a currently enrolled in the Careers in Retail Program through). The following are dates, times, and locations for classes and testing. Three options are available in the month of June.


OPTION 1
Class: June 13-15, 9 am to 12 pm
Location: Goodwill Business Office, 125 E. Kathy Street, Harker Heights



Testing:  June 17th at 9 am (Held at the Killeen Learning Center at 4004 E Stan Schlueter Loop)




OPTION 2
Class: June 20th, 21st, 23rd, 1 pm to 4 pm
Location: Belton Learning Center, 2601 Commerce Street, Belton
Testing: June 24th, 1 pm to 4 pm (Belton Learning Center)




OPTION 3
Class: June 27th-29th, 9 am to 12 pm
Location: Waco Learning Center, 1700 S. New Road, Waco
Testing: July 1st, 9 am to 12 pm (Waco Learning Center)

Operation: GoodJobs assists all veterans, transitioning military (Active Duty, National Guard, and Reserves), and their families with job training and placement services with individualized, holistic service plans to help each participant succeed. The plan services the needs of the whole family with the goal of achieving job placement, retention, and long-term financial stability.
