Free Computer Classes
Our free computer classes are great if you are new to computers and/or looking to sharpen your computer skills. No need to register, just stop by the Waco Learning Center to join in!
 
Computer Basics: Tuesdays, (4/12 & 4/26) from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Internet & E-mail: Wednesdays, (4/13 & 4/27) from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Intro to Microsoft Word: Friday, April 22nd from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Intro to Microsoft Excel: Friday, April 29th from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Can't make it to class due to scheduling conflicts? Set up an individual computer tutoring time with one of our Learning Center staff!

Mousing Around Mondays
Brand new to computers? Not ready to sing up for a class just yet? Mousing Around is a tutorial to help you become comfortable using the primary components of a computer before singing up to take one of our computer classes. A lab attendant will be available form 9:00 am - 3:00 pm every Monday to help guide you. Come by during that time and we will get you started!

Open Lab Resume Fridays
Need some guidance as you prepare/update your resume? A lab attendant will be available every Friday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm to assist you in getting your resume ready to submit for job applications.

Free Employability Skills Workshops
Starting January 2016, the Learning Center will offer weekly 2 hour employability skill classes. Completion of 1 employability class is required to schedule an individual job search, resume, or interviewing appointment with Learning Center staff. The following classes will be offered:

Job Search & Resume: Every Wednesday, Thursday & Friday EXCEPT (4/22) from 9:00 am - 12:00 am
Interview & Self Presentation: April 15th form 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

McLennan Community College Continuing Education Computer Classes
For the Spring 2016 semester, the Waco Learning Center will offer Basic Workplace Computer Skills, Microsoft Word 2010, and Microsoft Excel 2010 each month.

Basic Workplace Computer Skills: Mon, Wed, Fri from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Microsoft Word: Mondays & Wednesdays from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Microsoft Excel: Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

*Please contact McLennan Community College to register. Registration for each month-long course is $10.

TEMPLE LEARNING CENTER

CPR Certification Class 

This month, the Temple Learning is excited to offer CPR Certification classes provided by Amy Martinez. The class will be $40, payable via cash or money order only. Participants must bring payment and valid photo ID to attend. This course will provide certification through the American Heart Association for the following: Infant CPR, Child CPR, Adult CPR, First Aid, AED, and Choking. Registration REQUIRED - please contact the Learning Centers to register. GED Classes
The Temple Learning Center is excited to announce that GED classes will officially begin this year! We've partnered with Temple College to host GED classes weekly, at the Temple Learning Center. Financial Education Classes

Are you planning on becoming more financially responsible in 2015? BBVA Compass bank is providing a free financial class every month to help you do that. This class is free & available to anybody in the community interested in working on their finances.

 

When: "Money Matters" Wednesday, April 13th at 1:00 pm

Interested in learning the basics of utilizing a computer? Need help navigating through the internet? Curious about accessing and using email to communicate with employers, family, and friends? Struggling to utilize Microsoft Office? If you answered "YES" to the previous questions, swing by the Temple Learning Center to take advantage of our FREE Computer Basics, Internet and Email, or Introductory Microsoft Office classes.

 

Computer Basics: Mondays from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Internet & E-mail: Tuesdays from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Intro to Word/Excel: Thursdays from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm (alternating weeks)

 

Parenting and Anger Management Classes
The Temple Goodwill Learning Centers has partnered with Aware Central Texas to provide Parenting and Anger Management classes each week. Please see the Temple Learning Center calendar for specific class dates of contact Joey Ellis for information by calling (254) 239-6950. Classes are $20

BELTON LEARNING CENTER
GED Classes
We are pleased to announce that we now have GED classes at our Belton Learning Center! These classes are through Temple College, FREE to the public, and are individualized. If interested, you must attend orientation at the Belton Learning Center, Mondays at 11:00 am. If interested in starting GED classes, please contact Temple College at (254) 298-8620 or by email at GED@templejc.edu.

KILLEEN LEARNING CENTER
Bell County School of Defensive Driving:
(All courses: state approved certificate issued at end of class)
- Convenient location at affordable cost.
- Learn from certified professional driving instructors.
- Master the basics and learn road skills for the DMV driving test.
- Get trained in safety procedures and defensive driving.
- Gain confidence and skill for driving in difficult situations.

Construction Forklift and Confined Spaces Certification Class 
$65 per student. Covers forklift training, confined spaces, electrical safety, and ladders. 
 
When: Saturday, April 9th from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Please note: Limit 12 persons per class. $65 includes all class materials and instruction. Pre-registration is required. Please see flyer for more information.
 
Mood and Stress Management Classes 
- Learn how to identify the five factors (STORC)  that make up human emotion.
- Learn how to use cognitive behavior techniques to manage moods and negative feelings
- Learn how to replace destructive and avoidant ways of responding to negative moods with positive responses. 

 When: Thursdays, April 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th from 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Resume Writing Class
Do you need to create a resume that tells prospective employers exactly what you want them to know about you and why you would be a good fit for their open positions?

Operation: GoodJobs assists all veterans, transitioning military (Active Duty, National Guard, and Reserves), and their families with job training and placement services with individualized, holistic service plans to help each participant succeed. The plan services the needs of the whole family with the goal of achieving job placement, retention, and long-term financial stability.
