recharter banner

NOW is the time to complete your unit's Recharter.   This is the annual Scouting renewal process that all Packs, Troops, Teams, Crews, Ships, and Posts conduct in the fall.

The on-line process of renewing your unit to National BSA is quicker and easier than it has ever been!   One of the main advantages of on-line rechartering is that you do the editing of your unit's roster to be sure everyone's personal information is correct.

After you have submitted on-line and then printed out your Recharter roster, please be sure to obtain all of the required signatures, otherwise it will be returned to you for proper signatures.

Don't delay!  Collect everyone's individual annual dues this month if you have not already. Then be prepared to write ONE check to the council for your entire Recharter.  If families aren't able to pay the national $15 dues, use the white Registration Aid form in your packet (available from your District Staff).  But, be sure to send in the $2 insurance fee per person which cannot be covered by Council aid.

    .

It is important that everything is accurate since everyone works off of these rosters all year long, especially with recording the Scouts' advancement achievements.

By working and completing your Recharter now, you'll be able to sail through the holidays without this still on your "to do" list, and know that you've "done your best to do your duty"!  Thanks in advance for making this task a priority this month.

Recharters were due to the Council Service Center by November 17th in order to get them all input by 12/31/12.  Now our drop dead deadline is December 31st.  Please get yours in ASAP.  CLICK HERE to begin.  If you need assistance, contact your Unit Commissioner or District Executive.  They are ready to assist you today!

The Boy Scouts of America's national program for recognizing achievements within units and districts such as membership growth, planning, training, and camping.  This is a wonderful tool to assist your unit in delivering a full, quality program to the families you serve.

When you turn in your recharter this month,  you will need to submit your JTE form that was included in your recharter packet.  Your commissioner or executive is available to assist you in filling it out.

If this is the first you have seen the form, please consider getting your 2013 form HERE and begin working with your unit now in making sure you achieve the Gold Standard next year through proper planning today.

For more information, please visit your Council Website HERE.

In the event of poor weather conditions beyond the control of event organizers, the Klondike Derby will be held on the following weekend of February 1-3, 2013.

Stations will include fire building, first aid, Ravine Crossing, Bear Bag, Map and Compass, and several other challenges that a Patrol or Venture Crew could expect to encounter while looking for gold in the Lemolo Lake wilderness.

Changes this year from previous Klondike Derby's will include an inspection to make sure participants are adequately prepared, and .22 range, and a geocaching station.

If anyone has any questions regarding the Klondike Derby, please contact Klondike Derby Chair Stu Carlson at 541-677-0521 or riversong@dcwisp.net
