Do you have a culture of gratitude in your workplace? Whether you work at a tech company or not, research shows that employees who hear "thank you" at work are more likely to succeed and have greater job satisfaction. If you're the boss, here are Five Ways to Cultivate Gratitude at Work and if you're not the boss, maybe you can share this with your work team.
"High Performers in IT: Defined by Digital"

Accenture recently conducted research on what separates high performers in IT from average performing teams. IT executives from 200 global companies were interviewed. There are "10 key findings that encompass all three dimensions of high performance-IT innovation, IT agility and IT execution. What is especially noteworthy this year is the digital 'thread' that runs through most of these findings."

Become a VMware Certified Associate (VCA)
vmware

You can take your VMware Certified Associate (VCA) certification online and for a limited time, the exams are offered at a 50% discount. If you need training before taking your certification exam, free eLearning is available in four VCA areas:

            VCA-Data Center Virtualization

            VCA-Workforce Mobility

            VCA-Cloud

            VCA-Network Virtualization

The VCA is a fundamental, beginning level of understanding virtualization technology. After this, you may consider preparing for a VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification through PCATT.

PCATT is honored to provide technical training for the third consecutive year for students from Aso College, Fukuoka, Japan. What we found impressive is this private college places 100% of its graduates in jobs related to their majors. The experience included a 4-night home-stay with local families, and Leeward Community College arranged English language sessions and cultural visits. We welcome group visits from college students from other countries to study with PCATT.
Learn to Code

It seems everywhere we look, learning to code is listed as a hot skill. If you'd like to learn to code, the good news is there are many ways to learn. Dev League, located and run by folks in Hawaii, is one method which is for the highly motivated individual who has the time and resources to be immersed in the learning process. If this method suits you, Dev League is offering a 20% discount for their inaugural session which starts on January 27, 2014.

The True Cost of a College Degree is a Secret

Our guest blogger is Jason Sewell, Curriculum Designer, Developer, and Teaching Assistant at Dev League. Jason is a Web junky, and that's a good thing. He is passionate about all things Web. Jason has a career full of Web projects starting with building freelance e-commerce projects while in college to developing heavily trafficked global enterprise level systems and interfaces. He also has a beard...always.

Jason shares his personal story of attending college and attaining the skills needed for his chosen career path in hopes of helping others. So what's the secret? You can read about it in the PCATT blog.

Give Yourself the Gift of Learning
PCATT xmas tree

Feed your passion for technology and give yourself the gift of learning. You may also purchase a PCATT course for a friend or relative. We'll gift wrap it in traditional Christmas trimmings, Hanukkah wrapping, or whatever you're celebrating. Upcoming PCATT courses are listed here for your convenience. In a couple of weeks, you'll see more courses for the first quarter of 2014.
And Finally...

Through our network of Cisco colleagues, Cisco Program Coordinator Wayne Lewis received this photo from McMurdo Station in Antarctica. A friend of his is a network engineer there. Could it be the first continent to be 100% IPv6?
