MBOT President & CEO Sheldon Leiba recently hosted a meeting in Mississauga with Toronto Region Board of Trade President & CEO, Janet De Silva, and The Brampton Board of Trade CEO, Todd Letts.  The three chamber leaders, representing the largest cities in the GTA, discussed collaboration on various initiatives and policy advocacy.   "We have a lot of common issues and shared objectives, and look forward to continued discussions on how we can support business and economic growth in our region," says Leiba.

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) Alumni Canada hosted MBOT President & CEO Sheldon Leiba this past week to address its members on the current economic and employment climate in the region.  IIT is one of the most prominent science and technology institutions in the world, with a very active alumni association in Canada, with most members located in the GTA.   Leiba spoke about key issues and challenges facing business, opportunities for business growth and innovation, and MBOT's role representing and serving the interests of its members.  Of great interest to the audience was Sheldon's "Top 10" advice for immigrant business and professional success in Canada.

With a very rainy start to the morning, the skies cleared and sun beamed down for the start of MBOT's annual "Nine, Dine & Network" event on Tuesday, June 16 at Markland Wood Golf Club.   Over 120 participants joined for the 9 holes of golf, followed by business networking luncheon.  Keynote speaker, Elliot Kerr, owner of Landmark Sports Inc. and the Mississauga Steelheads OHL club, spoke about his extensive career and experience in the sports and athlete agent business, sharing keys to success and interesting insights.  MBOT would like to thank title sponsor, Enersource, the many other sponsors and contributors, and all participants for making the event a success.  A special appreciation goes to the Golf Committee and mother nature for arranging a perfect day.
