Great turnout at our inaugural Women Leadership event with remarkable women leaders sharing their inspiring stories at Markland Wood Golf Club.


The keynote speaker Connie Clerici, CEO - Closing the Gap Healthcare was followed by a panel including Mayor Bonnie Crombie; the Honourable Madam Justice Gertrude Speigel, Superior Court of Justice of Ontario, and Teawna Pinard, Founder of Women Leading Legendary Lives.


"Know yourself, stay true to your values, take risks, create opportunities, and a great support system play a key role in achieving success!", said Mayor Crombie.


The moderator, Nita Chhinzer, Department of Management at University of Guelph took questions from the audience. We also had a guest visitor, former Mayor of Mississauga, Hazel McCallion, attend with over 130 MBOT members.

On Wednesday, April 15, Honourable Mayor Crombie launched the Mayor's Taskforce on Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The goal of this taskforce is to make Mississauga shine as a hub of innovation and to support and encourage entrepreneurs. MBOT President & CEO, Sheldon Leiba to serve on this new taskforce.

 




 

Mississauga's leading business association is currently seeking nominations for businesses, organizations and business people that exemplify excellence to be considered for the 2015 Mississauga Business Awards of Excellence, sponsored by MNP LLP. 

 

Since 1980, Mississauga Board of Trade has been recognizing Mississauga businesses and leaders whose business achievements or community involvement have made significant contributions to the economic and social well being of the City of Mississauga. Businesses and individuals are nominated and recognized in 10 categories that culminate in a celebratory evening on November 19, 2015 that brings together hundreds of businesses, government and industry leaders for a night of celebration and prestige. 

 

Award categories are:  Small Business of the Year; Large Business of the Year; New Business of the Year; Business Person of the Year; Clean and Green; Corporate Social Responsibility; Employer of the Year; Not for Profit; Technology & Innovation; and Sam McCallion Community Involvement.

 

Nomination deadline is June 22and nominations can be submitted online at www.mbotawards.com.

 

 

 


       

MBOT has embarked on an ambitious project to spur meaningful opportunities for college and university students looking for full or part-time employment, as well as experiential learning placements.

MBOT, through an industry-led initiative called Advantage Mississauga, is urging employers to register with Magnet, a data-rich job matching technology platform. Magnet is incubated at Ryerson University's Digital Media Zone and was developed in partnership with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce to match businesses with the talent they need. Advantage Mississauga is working in partnership with Sheridan College and the University of Toronto, Mississauga by encouraging students and MBOT's member organizations to sign up with Magnet.
