Mississauga Board of Trade to Host Hon. Charles Sousa, Ontario Minister of Finance, for Provincial Post Budget Breakfast Event
Mississauga, Ontario (April 16, 2014) - Mississauga Board of Trade (MBOT) will be hosting the Hon. Charles Sousa, Ontario Minister of Finance, on May 2, 2014 for a provincial government post budget breakfast event.  This will be the first major address by the Minister of Finance following the release of the provincial budget on May 1, and will occur in his home town of Mississauga, at the Lakeshore Convention Centre from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.  Event Details.

"This event will provide a great opportunity for business and leaders in our community to hear first hand from the Minister of Finance on highlights and details of a highly anticipated provincial budget, and to ask questions about key policy priorities," said MBOT President & CEO Sheldon Leiba.

"There is broad speculation that this budget announcement may trigger a non-confidence motion from the opposition parties and a provincial election in the coming months.  Thus it is important that our business community be engaged in many of the relevant public policy discussions that will impact business, jobs and our community."

Finance Minister Charles Sousa has said that there are items in the budget that both opposition parties could support, referencing retirement security, reductions in auto insurance costs, more spending on health, education and social programs, along with budget plans that would grow the economy and create jobs.  The budget will also include more details on Premier Wynne's recent announcement of $29 billion investment over the next decade for new transit and transportation infrastructure in Ontario.
