Art to Wear
We've just received these two new pieces by Princy.
On the left - This wonderful piece is only 2 ounces and can be worn as a pretty poncho or a beautiful scarf. It is a perfect weight for all seasons, and made from a silk and rayon blend.
And we also have the Ruana on the right, which can be worn several different ways. We love the funky decorations Princy adds to her pieces.
Great for travel, does not wrinkle.
One size fits all. Comes in many pretty colors.
Both are great for our weather! And well priced too. The Poncho is $43 and the Ruana $68.

Our UPS Man has been bringing piles of boxes every day! So we can't wait to show you all our new finds!

You''re Invited to ArtWalk!
May 10 5-8 pm for the opening of our Garden Art Show and a demonstration of needlefelting by Melissa Gray

Melissa has a small farm not far from New Bern and raises fine white Corriedale sheep, which is where she gets the wool to do her needlefelting.
If you're not sure what felting is do you remember shrinking a sweater in the washer? The difference is the felting Melissa does requires dry wool and a fine needle that has barbs on the tip.
Melissa creates realistic animal sculptures and puppets made entirely of wool.

Needle felting is a process where a barbed needle is repeatedly pushed into a piece of carded wool to compress thewool together into a denser mass."I live on a small farm because I love animals. But all the animals here 'work' for a living. I teach kids horseback riding on the weekends or shear sheep for the fleeces for either the sculptures or selling for hand spinners. I milk my sheep to make soap, and we sell lambs for show or for the freezer in the spring," Melissa explains.
We've shown Melissa's work at Carolina Creations for several years and her sculptures continually elicit ooohs and aaaahs! During ArtWalk we'll also be selling needle felting kits and her sheep's milk soap. To see more of her pieces on our website click here.

Garden Show!
We've been searching for and gathering art for Fourth Annual Garden Show. Here is just a sampling! Weather proof and beautiful bird house sculptures and bells with clay and driftwood by Hazel Olsen. Hazel was a teacher and has been doing her pottery for 40 years.
She created original sculptures of birds, fish, and shells, made molds, then casts the pieces. They are each glazed and high fired. The color will last as long as the piece.
We have garden stakes by many artists including our friend Steve Cooper. He creates oversized flower garden stakes. He uses automotive paint which is very long lived.
We have had one of his flowers in our garden for several years and it has maintained its color and has not rusted.
Jan Francoeur has been busy painting and doing clay for the show.
This beautiful garden bench is made in North Carolina and painted in a color shift manner that shifts from purple to green.
All benches are hand-crafted of 1/4" steel, shot blasted, flame sprayed with zinc, and painted with a high quality two part epoxy base paint.
This weather proof finishing technique results in a highly resistant coating that prevents oxidation. Minimal maintenance is required - wash with mild soap and water to remove environmental grime. Many years ago we had these artists create a bench for a pocket park here in town, and the piece looks the same today as it did the day it was installed. Another new artist creates whirlygigs! We have one on our porch that is a constant source of interest. Made from steel and powdercoated with extra strength bearings, these whirlygigs will last! Made in North Carolina. And our friend Steve Fabrico has sent us birds and bird houses! We also have bird houses from Paul Anthony.

Bird Houses and Feeders
It's never too early or too late to put up a bird house. When shopping for a bird house you want one that is well designed and easy to clean, with proper ventilation. Our houses have been tested by the artists that make them. The size of the opening and the size of the interior of the house determines which birds it will attract. Birds are educational and fun to watch and they keep the bug population in your yard down. For prices click here, then click on the piece you'd like more information about.
