Greetings!

Well it feels like fall has arrived today... and I can look out my window and see all of the pumpkins in the Pumpkin Patch at the church.  Exciting and busy time at the church.  It also means we are two weeks away from our Trunk or Treat event on October 31 as well.  We invite you to read below to make sure you know about everything that going on... and we'd love to see you on Sunday too.

We will be wrapping up our RealLife@FUMC Playbook sermon series this week with the chance for you to respond in tangible ways.  Don't miss out in this important stage of our congregation's development.

Yours in Christ,

David

Pumpkin Patch

Journey Preschool is holding their annual Pumpkin Patch fundraiser at the church again this year.  But this is more than just a way to raise funds for the school, this is an outreach event for our community.

This year JPS leaders are planning on hosting over 1000 students during the day for pre-scheduled visits that include story time and the chance to explore the patch.  And there will be lots of special events and visitors throughout the next two weeks.

Bring your family and get some pictures, explore the patch, and support our Journey Preschool.  The pumpkin patch is open through October 31, and is open until sunset each evening.

Trunk Or Treat
October 31, 2013

On Thursday, October 31, 2013 from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM, we will be holding our 3rd Annual Trunk or Treat Festival in our 4th Street Parking Lot.

Decorate your vehicle (and yourselves), get some treats, and join us as we invite the community to come and "Trunk or Treat" with us.

We hope to fill our parking lot with the vehicles of our members.  It will be fun, it will be a great community event, and we want you to join us!
*If you are planning on joining us - let us know!  Go to our website to register:

If you can make it, but would like to help, you can bring bags of candy for us to share.

First UMC Service Interest Inventory

Over the last few weeks we have been talking about the fullness of the Christian life through Jesus Christ.  We have focused on three basic areas:
Worship - Service - Study.  These are the "Keys to A Winning Season" for us.

We are providing you with a way to get involved in service inside and outside the church.  In church this Sunday, we will be giving out a Service Interest inventory.

If you would like to download that form you may:
FIRST UMC SERVICE SHEET

Once you've filled it out, you can mail it to the church, or drop it off on a Sunday that you are there.

  Joyful Noise! Children's Choir

We are having so much fun with your children!  Not only are we learning the words, movements, and story of the musical, we are preparing our hearts to celebrate the greatest gift ever-Jesus!  We have lessons to go along with the songs and pray together!

Having said that, we are excited about sharing all of the above with the congregation on December 15th!  In order for us to give God our best in 8 weeks (yes, only 8 weeks), we need:
-all the children to be at Joyful Noise on Sunday mornings at 10:00!!
-for all the children to listen and sing along to the CD as much as possible
-for the speakers to memorize their parts (which will be assigned in the next couple of weeks)
-for parents to volunteer to help with the set production

Watch for emails!  We will be singing in church before the musical, and as soon as those dates are confirmed, you will receive an email.  We will also need to have a couple of Sunday practices (after church with pizza or something), and a dress rehearsal on December 14th.

I know this is a lot of information, so thank you for getting to the end!  Thank you to Courtney Nash, Natalie Leal, and David Payne for leading Joyful Noise last Sunday in our absence!  Please let us know you have any questions or are willing to help in any way!

Thank you,
Lori Payne, Kathleen Garant, Lisa Roberts, and Lori Rodgers

Wednesday CONNECT Service

Our newest spiritual growth opportunity is up and running.  Join us at 7:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall.  This is a time of Bible study, fellowship, sharing, and challenge.  We hope this might be a way for you to "step" into the idea of small groups and Christian growth.  David will be leading the study each week and childcare will be available.  There is no need to sign up for this ministry, you are welcome to attend anytime, and please invite others who may be looking for a mid-week opportunity to worship, learn, grow, and CONNECT.
