Greetings!

We hope you have had a great week!  We are looking forward to our worship services tomorrow and would love to see you there.  We are building on our fall sermon series and this week we will be talking about the importance of worship in our spiritual lives (not church...WORSHIP).  So join us for this week's services:  RealLife@FUMC Playbook: Keys to A Winning Season You've Gotta Have Heart!

Originally, we planned on launching our Wednesday evening teaching service, CONNECT, on Wednesday, October 2.  However, because of a scheduling conflict, we will not begin until October 9, at 7:00 PM.  Despite the delay, we are excited to get started and think it will be a great addition to our weekly offerings.

Enjoy your weekend, and see you on Sunday!

Yours in Christ,

David

Bring Your Peanut Butter!

As you know, we give each of our Backpack for Hunger children a small jar of peanut butter each week.  This year we are doing 75 students, which means we are giving away 300 jars a month (2,700 a year).  It is a challenge for us... but we can do it!

Help us out, make grabbing a jar of peanut butter a part of your routine each week.  Thanks for your continued support and generosity!

Beloved Disciple
Women's Bible Study Begins on October 7, 2013

Please join us for the 10 week ladies' Bible study studying the life and ministry of John.  We will be using Beth Moore's, Beloved Disciple study.

"Every disciple and early follower of Christ left a legacy for future believers. John's legacy was love. Perhaps like no other disciple, John understood that relationship is the point. Every command of Christ and call to obedience is to enhance relationship and place the recipient in a posture the Giver can bless. This study is about finding our way to the heart of Jesus and reclining so closely that our pulse begins to throb in tandem, loving what He loves and hating what He hates."

Mondays, October 7 - December 9

Monday mornings - 10 a.m. - 11:30 p.m. at the FUMC Fellowship Hall.  Call Rayma Causey at 496-6331 to reserve a book.

Monday evenings - 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.  at the Sheneman's Home.  Call Laura Sheneman at 793-4413 to reserve a book.

Wednesday CONNECT Service

We will be adding a mid-week teaching service on Wednesday evenings beginning on October 9, 2013 at 7:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall.  This will be a time of Bible study, and then we will break into discussion groups.  We hope this might be a way for you to "step" into the idea of small groups and Christian growth.  David will be leading the study each week and childcare will be available.  There is no need to sign up for this ministry, you are welcome to attend anytime, and please invite others who may be looking for a mid-week opportunity to worship, learn, grow, and CONNECT.

Pumpkin Patch at First UMC

Each year, our Journey Preschool holds a Pumpkin Patch on our campus as a way to reach out to the community and to raise funds for the school.  This is an effective way of our church being seen as a player in the community.  In fact, we're known as the "Pumpkin Church" to many in the area.

Several schools and children's programs come during this season as a field trip for their kids.  If you would be interested in volunteering to work during the patch (October 17-31,2013) we'd love to include you.

Our JPS Director, Ashley Barker is coordinating volunteers.  She has established an ONLINE SIGNUP  (see below) or you may contact her at [email protected]

We're using VolunteerSpot to organize our upcoming
