Greetings!

We hope you have had a great week and are staying dry.  We give God thanks for the much needed rain!  It's incredible how quickly things spring back to life and show growth when they are watered from the heavens... Same thing happens to us.  When we get our nourishment and fulfillment from God, it quickly takes effect and "greens-up" our lives.  We hope your soul is being watered.

null Our fall sermon series, RealLife@FUMC Playbook: Keys to A Winning Season continues this week in our worship services.  This week, Pastor Jet will be talking about the importance of us taking the love of Jesus Christ outside the walls of the church.

Have a great weekend, and we hope to see you on Sunday.  Make sure to read the information below, so that you know the many opportunities you have to get "watered" by the Holy Spirit this week.

Lastly, Rachel Pletcher is having her 94th Birthday.  She loves cards, so if you would like to help make her day special, please send her a birthday card.  It's a simple way to make a difference.  The address is:

Beloved Disciple
Women's Bible Study Begins on October 7, 2013

Please join us for the 10 week ladies' Bible study studying the life and ministry of John.  We will be using Beth Moore's, Beloved Disciple study.

"Every disciple and early follower of Christ left a legacy for future believers. John's legacy was love. Perhaps like no other disciple, John understood that relationship is the point. Every command of Christ and call to obedience is to enhance relationship and place the recipient in a posture the Giver can bless. This study is about finding our way to the heart of Jesus and reclining so closely that our pulse begins to throb in tandem, loving what He loves and hating what He hates."

Mondays, October 7 - December 9

Monday mornings - 10 a.m. - 11:30 p.m. at the FUMC Fellowship Hall.  Call Rayma Causey at 496-6331 to reserve a book.

Monday evenings - 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.  at the Sheneman's Home.  Call Laura Sheneman at 793-4413 to reserve a book.

Wednesday CONNECT Service

We will be adding a mid-week teaching service on Wednesday evenings beginning on October 2, 2013 at 7:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall.  This will be a time of Bible study, and then we will break into discussion groups.  We hope this might be a way for you to "step" into the idea of small groups and Christian growth.  David will be leading the study each week and childcare will be available.  There is no need to sign up for this ministry, you are welcome to attend anytime, and please invite others who may be looking for a mid-week opportunity to worship, learn, grow, and CONNECT.

Pumpkin Patch at First UMC

Each year, our Journey Preschool holds a Pumpkin Patch on our campus as a way to reach out to the community and to raise funds for the school.  This is an effective way of our church being seen as a player in the community.  In fact, we're known as the "Pumpkin Church" to many in the area.

Several schools and children's programs come during this season as a field trip for their kids.  If you would be interested in volunteering to work during the patch (October 17-31,2013) we'd love to include you.

Our JPS Director, Ashley Barker is coordinating volunteers.  She has established an ONLINE SIGNUP  (see below) or you may contact her at [email protected]

We're using VolunteerSpot to organize our upcoming

Why RealLife Groups?

We believe that relationships are important... both our relationship with God and our relationships with others.  We also believe that spiritual growth happens better in circles than it does in rows.  We need one another to become the people and the church that God calls us to be.

Want to get some more information about small groups?  Have questions?  Wondering the theology behind it?
