Springtime in the Rockies!

Yes, Spring is finally here and you know what that means - loads of cute, cuddly KITTENS!

The good news is that our adoptions (adult and kittens) have been going really well. So far this year, we have found the purrfect families for more than 75 catsThanks so much to our amazing foster families and their unending commitment to caring for our littlest furballs.

Even so, we could always benefit from more loving homes and foster families to assist us in raising healthy, happy, socialized kittens. Does this sound like a good fit for you and your family? If you would like more information please go to our website at

We'd also like to take this opportunity to thank the Colorado Pet Overpopulation License Plate Fund Grant, Best Friends Animal Society - Save Them All and the Petco Foundation for grants received during the first quarter of 2016! We couldn't make the difference we do without your support!

Wild Blue's Volunteers of the Month!

Please join us in congratulating Morgann and Madysen Cordova as our April volunteers of the month!  They have volunteered in both the Sanctuary, as well as at the adoption fairs with their Mom, Amy, for the last 3 years.  Amy should be volunteer of the month as well if truth be told! This entire family has been long time supporters of Wild Blue.  They have a great volunteer heart and LOVE all the kitties.

The teens began volunteering as a way to gain volunteer hours for Jr. National Honor Society, but it grew into much more.  Their first duties were cleaning the Sanctuary and feeding kitties.  However, their true passion was to help the kitties find their new "fur-ever" homes so they began helping out at the Petco adoption events.  After a few months of volunteering at Petco, their mom Amy was asked to take over the responsibilities of managing the adoption events.  So with that, the girls committed their Saturdays to helping out at Petco!

The fraternal twins are freshmen at Falcon High School.  Mady is active in cheerleading and track; Morgann participates in the school's theater productions and Anime club.  Both girls are honor-roll students as well.

While they have fallen in love with all of the kitties that have come through the Sanctuary, Mady had a special bond with both Ingram and Fairfax.  Morgann's special kitty is Sasha.  The girls feel they have received as much love, if not more, from the kitties than what they give.  They can often be found in the Sanctuary laying with the kitties and studying for tests.  The calmness and unconditional love eases the stress of studying! Thank you ladies for your hard work and dedication to Wild Blue and the kitties!

Mars and Ynez

Mars and Ynez wait patiently (maybe not so much!) for Mike to shovel out Maya's Wildheart Village and serve up breakfast after a recent snowstorm. These kitties are right at home in Wild Blue's enclosed feral cat colony.
TNR Update
We accept donations
Wild Blue has been busy knocking down the reproductive cycle of feral cats this Spring both inside the city of Colorado Springs and the surrounding rural communities.  With the mild weather this Winter, we have gotten an early start on Trap-Neuter-Return and have already helped sterilize and vaccinate over 60 cats.  We are on target to TNR 50 cats in April alone!  Most will be returned to their homes and will be housed and fed by their caretakers.  If you have feral or community cats in your neighborhood who need help, please feel free to contact us and we will see how we can partner up with you to help.

Some feral cats, due to no fault of their own, cannot return to where they were trapped.   We are always on the lookout for good barn homes for feral cats where they can have a chance to live out their lives in a safe and welcoming place.  We help relocate them.  These cats are healthy, sterilized and vaccinated. If you are able or know of someone who can provide a home for feral cats, please contact us.

We accept donations to help the feral cats and are looking for a volunteer to help set up a work day to build houses/feeders.

Please give!
$70 purchases a trap
$30 sterilizes a cat
Plastic totes 18gal & 30gal
Rigid foam insulation (4ftx8ft sheet, 1 inch thick)
Plywood for building feral cat houses/feeder stations
shingles, outdoor paint, neutral colors
flannel or cotton flat sheets

Mae's Birthday Donation to the Kitties

We'd like everyone to meet one of our youngest supporters, Mae. She and her family adopted a kitten from Wild Blue on her 5th birthday. And this year, for her 7th birthday, Mae decided that she would ask for donations for the kitties in lieu of presents! AND she collected more than $540 in cash --- plus toys, beds, treats and litter for our sanctuary kitties! Way to go Mae and thanks so much to you, your family and your friends!!

In Memoriam

It is with a heavy heart that we let you know that our sweet old man Samson passed away in March.  For those who didn't know him, Samson was nothing but skin and bones when Lauri rescued him. A Wild Blue adopter found him nearly starved to death on a cold November night as they packed their car for a Thanksgiving trip. His skin crackled when Lauri tried to give him subQ fluids and she didn't think he would survive the night. But survive he did, and not only that, he thrived for three more years due to the love and care of Darcy, his angel adopter.
When Darcy adopted him, he was so much better, but still skinny, and estimated to be nearly 20 years old!  We cannot thank Darcy enough for what she did for us and for sweet Samson. She is an inspiration, and she and Samson give us hope for a great life for every senior kitty we take in. We have happy thoughts that Samson lived a wonderful life with Darcy and he is now running with joy at the Rainbow Bridge until we all see him again.

Michelson Found Animals
Saving Pets Challenge
