*"JAM, Towson and Arielle Adler" - Today on college campuses across our country, there is an increasing rate of Anti-Semitism, and Islamaphobia.  Each campus chooses to deal with these situations in a different way.  At Towson University (near Baltimore, Maryland) we are working to create an environment of understanding and acceptance through interfaith dialogue.  Jews and Muslims  (JAM) was created by a group students passionate about keeping campus safe and welcoming for students of all faiths. Arielle will be talking about the program and her experiences.

Adult Education @ Beth David
The Theology of Judaism - Tuesday Nights @ 7:00pm, in the library at Beth David. Resurrection? Messiah? Redemption? What does classical Judaism have to say about these concepts? Traditional sources will be used to explore these and other theological ideas that are associated with Jewish faith and thought.

The Weekly Parsha  Wednesdays @ 12:00-1:00pm This class is a "lunch-n-learn", and no previous text study is required. This group convenes in the library of Beth David Synagogue.

Talmud Sanhedrin, Thursdays @ 12:00-1:00pm This class studies a passage from the Babylonian Talmud, Sanhedrin addresses matters pertaining to the Jewish legal system. The group is hosted by Mr. Harry Weller and meets at the Rocky Hill offices of the Connecticut States Attorney, 300 Corporate Place.

A New Class starting Tuesday, January 5 @ 7:00pm -
Exploring the Siddur with Mrs. Galya Greenberg
At our first meeting together, we will look closely at the Ashrei prayer: How, when, and why is it said? What are the different tunes and when should they be used? In what ways does Ashrei exemplify Biblical poetry?  What does Ashrei reveal about what the author thinks about God? (and how does that compare with our own conceptions of HaShem?) Subsequent classes will be determined by the needs and interests of the participants in understanding the siddur. A knowledge of basic phonetic reading of Hebrew will be helpful but not a mandatory prerequisite! Please RSVP to Kim in the BDS office so that we will have enough materials for everyone. If you have a favorite siddur at home, feel free to bring it with you.
