2016-17 Athletic Newsletter Kickoff

Welcome to a new year of sports at Trinity School! This Athletic Newsletter will be e-mailed to all Trinity families each month. It contains essential information regarding Trinity School's athletic events, calendar updates and other news.

You can also find helpful information throughout the year on the Trinity School website under the  Athletics Tab.

Athletic Forms for 2016 - 2017

Students must have all the athletic forms & a current physical on file in the athletic office to tryout or practice with a team.

Forms are not mailed to families, they must be printed  from the Trinity website.  Here is a link to the forms:  Athletic Forms

It is a Minnesota State High School League rule that each athlete must have the following forms on file in the athletic office each year.

  • Annual Health Questionnaire
  • MSHSL Eligibility Statement
  • Parent Consent / Release Form
  • Parent Volunteer Form (one / family)
  • Physical (dated within the last 3 years)
New forms must be completed every year for each athlete (physicals every 3 years).
If you have not already done so, please send in athletic forms as soon as possible if your child wishes to compete in a sport during any season this school year.  You may print the Athletic Forms from the school website.

You will be sent a final schedule, so you will know exactly when you will be driving.

You must complete the online registration for your child to be included on the team roster and receive a uniform. Registration is completed when payment has been made and all athletic forms received.

Volunteering

Sport Specific Volunteering
To support the work of our coaches, every parent assists their children's teams in a variety of sport specific jobs, such as being a ball chaser for varsity soccer games or working admissions for home basketball games.  Parents sign up for these jobs during the online registration process.  Each team's parent manager will use the information collected from the registrations to set up a job schedule and will e-mail the schedule to the team.

Concessions
To help fund the athletic program, all parents with a child playing a sport during the fall, winter or spring sport season are required to sell concessions during the fall and/or winter.   For example, a parent with a child who only plays softball in the spring, should sell concessions in the fall/winter.  Each parent will receive an online sign-up sheet to select particular dates to sell concessions.

Parent Managers
Each team has two parent managers.  Parents are required to serve as a parent manager for one of their children's sports teams each year. The duties of parent managers are described below.

Parent Manager #1
PM #1 schedules the carpools and home game/meet workers using information collected during the online registration process.  The manager also communicates schedule changes via e-mail or phone calls.

Parent Manager #2
PM #2 is responsible for collecting uniforms and planning the post season party plus buying a gift for the coach. (A team fee is collected during registration to cover these expenses.)

Many parents  have already volunteered for these jobs on the Parent Athletic Volunteer Form. If you have not already done so, a form is available under Athletic Forms
on the school website.  Please send in your form, so you have a choice in the jobs you would like to do.  Anyone who has not turned in a form will be assigned a duty where needed.

2016-17 Athletic Fees

To help fund the sports program, parents with a child  participating in a sport at Trinity during the 2016-2017 school year must pay each of the following fees:

1)  Pay the Sport Fee for each sport played by each of your children.
2) Pay one yearly Athletic Fee  ($125/student, $250 family maximum).

The Athletic Fee is due in full at the time you sign up for your child's first sport of the year.

The Sport Fee and Athletic Fee will be part of the online registration process.  You can choose to pay online by credit card, or send in a check to the Trinity Athletic Office.

Fundraising Opportunity

Scrip

The Scrip program allows you to purchase gift cards that you can use towards your own purchase of groceries, gasoline, food at restaurants and hundreds of other products through local retailers.

  • Gift cards are purchased and spent at face value
  • Cards are paid for at the time of each order and picked up at school.
  • The profit goes directly to the school through online accounting.
  • The profit margin varies from retailer to retailer.
  • Earnings through April 30, 2017 will be applied towards your 2016-17 Athletic fee refund ($125/student or $250 family maximum).
