The Zonta Club of Pasadena, chartered eighty-five years ago, is a service organization of women in business who strive to improve the status of women. This photo shows J. Maria Pierce of Pasadena, president of Zonta International, who visited a camp for displaced Palestinian women and met the woman whom the Zonta Club of Pasadena sponsored in 1962.

Dozens of Pasadena organizations celebrating significant anniversaries in 2014, including the Zonta Club, are mentioned in the

Crown City Jubilee

exhibit.

Fenyes Mansion Tours

This summer, why not take a trip into Pasadena's past?

Thanks to an extraordinary family legacy, the Mansion on Pasadena's famed "Millionaire's Row," once home to Dr. Adalbert and Eva Fenyes, holds a special place among Pasadena Museum of History's many treasures. Original period furnishings, family heirlooms, and a unique California plein air art collection enhance this 1906 Beaux Arts-style architectural jewel. The lovely residence, designed by Robert Farquhar with a later addition by Sylvanus Marston, retains the collection of the Fenyes-Curtin-Paloheimo family and is decorated as it was lived in a century ago.

Docent tours of the Fenyes Mansion are offered on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 12:15 pm, at a price of $15/person (PMH Members are free!). Tours are approximately one hour and fifteen minutes, and they cover the history of the Fenyes-Curtin-Paloheimo family, their collection of art and furnishings, and a glimpse into the life of a family living 100 years ago on Pasadena's Millionaire's Row. Visitors may also view the Finnish Folk Art Museum as part of the Fenyes Mansion tour.

Kathryne Beynon Foundation Exhibition Hall

Open through September 14

In 2014, a record number of Pasadena institutions are celebrating significant anniversaries. PMH is adding to the individual festivities that are taking place citywide throughout the year with a special exhibition exploring the histories of some of these long-standing and beloved institutions, organizations, and businesses that have helped shape our city over many decades.

Crown City Jubilee highlights eleven well-known institutions with displays of historic artifacts and clothing, photographs, and ephemera: Pasadena Unified School District (140), Pasadena Public Library (130), Pasadena Tournament of Roses (125), Vroman's Bookstore (120), Mount Wilson Observatory (110), American Red Cross, San Gabriel Pomona Valley Chapter (100), The Langham Huntington, Pasadena (100), the Rose Bowl Game (100), Westridge School (100), Pasadena City College (90), and Pasadena Museum of History itself, which celebrates 90 years since its founding in 1924.

More than ninety other Pasadena institutions celebrating a major anniversary this year have been identified and are featured on a timeline and in historic photographs on view in an anniversary video slideshow.

This exhibition is sponsored in part by the Langham Huntington, Pasadena.
