In the nineteenth century, a popular picnic spot for Pasadenans was Silver Spray Falls in the Arroyo Seco.

This summer, we will post a historic image of a fun summertime activity - such as a picnic - on the PMH Facebook page every Wednesday until Labor Day.

We'll also be posting "Friday Firsts" - photos of historic milestones in Pasadena such as the first house built on Orange Grove and the first baby born in the city.

In 2014, a record number of Pasadena institutions are celebrating significant anniversaries. PMH is adding to the individual festivities that are taking place citywide throughout the year with a special exhibition exploring the histories of some of these long-standing and beloved institutions, organizations, and businesses that have helped shape our city over many decades.

Crown City Jubilee highlights eleven well-known institutions with displays of historic artifacts and clothing, photographs, and ephemera: Pasadena Unified School District (140), Pasadena Public Library (130), Pasadena Tournament of Roses (125), Vroman's Bookstore (120), Mount Wilson Observatory (110), American Red Cross, San Gabriel Pomona Valley Chapter (100), The Langham Huntington, Pasadena (100), the Rose Bowl Game (100), Westridge School (100), Pasadena City College (90), and Pasadena Museum of History itself, which celebrates 90 years since its founding in 1924.

More than ninety other Pasadena institutions celebrating a major anniversary this year have been identified and are featured on a timeline and in historic photographs on view in an anniversary video slideshow.
