Call to Volunteers
If you've ever been interested in gaining museum experience, now is an ideal time to sign up to volunteer for the Museum's award-winning classroom tours,
My Masterpieces and Junior Docents.
Volunteers will begin orientation for the new school year this fall, and we will schedule educational tours on Tuesday through Friday mornings.
With the opening of I Do! I Do! Part II, we are also seeking Gallery Hosts to greet visitors and provide customer service in the galleries. Shifts are available Wednesday through Sunday afternoons.
All of these volunteer positions are opportunities to gain personal and professional enrichment, provide inspiring services to the community, and befriend a wonderful group of people. If you would like to get involved in these or other rewarding volunteer programs, visit the volunteer page of our website. For more information or to sign up, you can also contact Emily at 626.577.1660, ext. 26 or volunteer@pasadenahistory.org.

Upcoming Exhibition
I Do! I Do! Pasadena Ties the Knot
Part II: 1950 to Present Day
Opens on August 10 and runs through November 3
Since the Museum's wedding gown collection ends in the 1950s, the second half of the exhibition takes on a different perspective. The gowns in Part II - borrowed from local residents, bridal shops, and designers - were chosen because they define specific styles and together create a chronology of wedding dress history decade by decade from 1950 to present day. These styles, which have been largely determined by designers, may change through the years, but at the height of its popularity each dress represents a momentary standard of what a bride should look like. Its style is wholeheartedly adopted by consumers, and is copied again and again, until the next vision comes along.
We will spotlight several designers including Priscilla of Boston, Vera Wang, Alexander McQueen, and Monique Lhuillier. Personal stories, formal portraits, wedding announcements, and other ephemera, will accompany the thirty gowns on view. Local women, including Holly Davis and Karen Hackett of Tirage Fine Art Gallery will share photos and memories of their weddings. Karen remembers, "At the time of my wedding, my parents lived in Ponce, Puerto Rico. My mother's dream was for the wedding to be at the Cathedral in Ponce, but we felt that the time and expense was prohibitive for the majority of our guests. With the help of my USC sorority sisters, who were area residents, Pasadena seemed to be the perfect setting for my parent's expectation of the traditional society wedding."
